geezer Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Lamar goes on the road for its second conference game. ET presents another unknown when it comes to the quality of their team. Currently they are 1-4 with all of their losses in the non-conference. The losses are all to teams with winning records and two of them are FBS top 20 teams. They defeated Northwestern St on the road for their conference opener. Game time is 6 PM Saturday. I don't think there will be any easy games in conference this year. Quote
coachacola Posted October 9 Posted October 9 This game and the Northwestern State game should be easy or we'll probably see LU end the season on a 3 or 4 game losing streak. Quote

I'd list them as "the closest thing to an 'easy game'" Let's hope we make it "late early" for the Lions. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I say we stay with McCown at QB. I am hoping the offense continues to improve as he continues to develop. on another note, UNT plays #25 USF. That game should tell us a little more about UNT and our opener against them. Quote
lu cards Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I’m confused. Why do we play at 6pm ? I thought all Southland games had to be 3 pm start time ? Quote
geezer Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 I don't think there are any conference rules about game times. There have been several six and seven PM conference games this season. I don't know why Lamar wants afternoon home games. It's hard enough to get fans to home games, why compete with the big boy's afternoon games. There are at least a few that might come to Lamar game after Texas or A&M is over and it's not quite as hot. Quote

The UnT game wasn’t as close as I hoped. Had they played closer, it would have helped LU with the computer rankings, and maybe the pollsters. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I will take a win by any margin, but I am hoping for a convincing win over East Texas State. 🤣 i see they changed there name again, I guess to be more regional. If they were going to be regionally accurate, it would be Notheast Texas A&M. Quote

Up the middle, up the middle, up the middle gets predictable. And why the hell are we playing damn near every rb on the roster? Pick 2 and let em get into some kinda rhythm Quote
coachacola Posted October 11 Posted October 11 LU down 7-0 due to a McCown fumble that gets returned for a TD. Quote
coachacola Posted October 12 Posted October 12 LU scores two TDs in the last second to win 33-23! Quote
geezer Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Cards get a big break as ETAM gets called for a leverage penalty on Lamar's game tying field goal attempt with 12 seconds on the clock. The call allows the Cards to take the FG off the board and Fuselier catches the go-ahead touchdown with three seconds on the clock. Lamar scored an earlier touchdown with about nine minutes left in the game to get to within three points. Lamar wins 27-23. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Great comeback win! Cardiac Cards! I am happy with a 10 point win on the road! Quote

NorthoftheBorder Posted October 12 Posted October 12 McCown had a really solid game statistically. Looks like he is continuing to develop! Quote
