TexGator Posted October 12 Posted October 12 To me, this is the most intriguing game so far this year because we truly don't know what UTRGV has. They filled their non-conference slate with a D-II team in Sul Ross State and a pair of NAIA schools sandwiching the Prairie View game. To me, this is a "don't look past them" game. We scheduled them for Homecoming- we need to treat them like a Homecoming opponent and beat them up. We have the big boys to wear them down; we just need to execute. I checked the VS simulator and they have us at about a 58% chance of winning. 1 Quote
geezer Posted October 14 Posted October 14 This week's game slate should give a pretty good idea of what remains. SLU hosts Northwestern St which should be a fairly easy win for them, SFA hosts Nicholls which should give a comparison between Lamar and SFA and ETAM is at UIW who are looking to rebound from an overall disappointing start. 1 Quote

Agreed. Teams will definitely start separating themselves and we'll start getting a better feel for where teams are. Games against FBS and D2, D3, or NAIA schools aren't as good of a measure as he head-to-head. We're basically being carried in our reputation by the win over South Dakota. The Texas Southern game didn't do much for us (we pretty much overmatched them in the 1st Quarter and got them off them-schedule the whole game. While that's great, the ability to separate ourselves from the pack in the conference feels good with each win. (And we know every team Central Arkansas wins helps our reputation for this year, as well) Quote
coachacola Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Here's how LU compare to UTRGV against FCS opponents according to Massey. Hopefully the team will be hyped up and will lay a whooping on UTRGV. LU UTRGV Quote

NorthoftheBorder Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I guess everyone has been to busy with homecoming festivities to post about tomorrows game! Go Cards! Quote
TexGator Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 As long as that's true about the players being at practice... that's all I ask. Quote
geezer Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Lamar opens the game focusing on the running game early and after exchanging possessions, on their second possession, the Cards get a couple of first downs then complete a fifty-eight-yard pass to Thomas to open the scoring 7-0 with 7:02 left in the first quarter. Quote
geezer Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Lamar settles for a field goal after moving the ball 71 yards with 13:26 left in the 2nd quarter to extend the lead to 10-0. Quote
geezer Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Cards defense continues to stop RGV and the offense continues to move the ball well getting another passing touchdown from McCown to Fusilier to extend the lead further to17-0 with 7:01 left in the half. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 18 Posted October 18 McCown to Fuselier for a TD! I like how McCown continues to develop! He is growing with the program! Quote
geezer Posted October 18 Posted October 18 RGV answers the last Lamar touchdown with a nice drive and a touchdown of their own with two minutes left in the half to narrow the gap to 17-7. Quote
geezer Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Woodard closes out the half with a 52-yard field goal for a 20-7 halftime lead. McCown has 186 yards passing to go with rushing attack for 97 yards. Quote

lu cards Posted October 19 Posted October 19 We really played like crap in the 2nd half .penalties, turnovers and bad coaching.we can’t put a team away to save our lives. With that said we still found a way to win. 6-1 and on to the next game ! Congratulations cardiac cards !!’n Quote
puddin tane Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Glad we won. We outplayed em for sure. Sure wish we’d play four quarters. Rossomandos prevent offense SUCKS! weve been getting shut down in 2nd half. Defense played a dang good game. Quote

coachacola Posted October 19 Posted October 19 East Texas A&M beat UiW on the road in a shootout. Quote
geezer Posted October 19 Posted October 19 ETAM defeated UIW 52-45 in San Antonio. UIW isn't what they have been the past few years, but they are still dangerous. Next up for Lamar is Northwestern St. NWST looks to be the worst team in the conference, but Lamar hasn't had much success at their place since restarting the program. Quote
