FCS Playoff Game vs. Abilene Christian - Who ya got?

While we're the official underdog, what do y'all think about how the game will go?

I think we have a decent shot. ACU is a strong team but the 1st Round is always a toss-up, since it's usually the week of Thanksgiving and those in the know are keenly aware that Thanksgiving Week for HS and College is a unique animal.

I'm making the drive up to ACU Friday. I'm pulling for a cardinal win, hopefully the Lamar team that was jelling in the first half of the season will be there. Either way win are lose I'm proud of these young men.   PECK'EM

We have made another step forward improving the program and its success. It would be nice to win a playoff game this year as part of the program moving forward. 
I am happy with the progress, even if I complain sometimes.

The answer depends on if the LU offense plans to show up or not.

I am taking LU. Hoping the team that showed up the last two games is not the one that shows up Saturday. Hoping the team that beat S. Dakota and SELA shows up.

Lamar definitely didn't play their best ball the last couple of games, but overall, it looks like a pretty even matchup.  ACU has two wins that would make them the favorite, but then they have a bigger loss to UIW than Lamar did.  I think it is a toss-up but I'm going to pick LU because of the defense.

Massey has LU with a 8% chance of winning, losing 31-17.  LU needs to come in with something to prove and hopefully ACU is underestimating them.

Massey only predicting 17 points for LU makes sense based on past offensive performances this year, but giving up 31 doesn’t make sense.

No predictions here. I’ll be watching and hoping for a W. If we do win I’ll be heading to Nac for next weeks game.

31 doesn't make a lot of sense to me either.  Lamar coaching is sometimes criticized here for not opening things up but their conservative approach usually means  we are close enough to win.  How often have we lost the statistics and won the game?

There are three statistics that you almost always need to win to win the game.  Time of possession, turnovers and penalties.  Can't let the defense get tired.

Mcneese gashed us pretty good on the ground. That has me concerned.  Wont mention passing game. The quarterback play for both teams sucked.

gonna be windy i believe, with the front coming. Thats to abilenes credit, they play out there in the desert winds with tumbleweeds rolling across the field. And they actually  pass….  Maybe the run and snooze will be an advantage?

I was in the air flying back for most of the game but was able to keep up with it.  Glad Lamar got to the playoffs, but at the same time how many of thought that with the schedule Lamar had to start the year that eight wins would be a good year.  Hard to say what effect injuries played overall, but again that's something most teams have to deal with to some extent.  There is still a lot of room for the program to improve.  I think Lamar needs at least one big bruiser back that can always get at least one yard even if there is no blocking.  The offensive line still needs to take another step up in quality.  The same is probably true for the defense.  You have to be able to make a first down or score on one yard to go and Lamar failed to do so multiple times in today's game and over the last two or three games.  Hopefully McCown stays, recovers fully from whatever nagging injuries he has been playing with and can step up his passing game next year.
