geezer Posted February 14 Posted February 14 The Cards open this year's season at home against Oakland University out of Michigan with a three-game series starting this evening and finishing up Sunday afternoon. Quote
geezer Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 Lamar is up 6-0 in the top of the eighth. It has been foggy since about the third inning and the fog has gotten thick enough that the coaches with the umpire have suspended the game until tomorrow afternoon. Lamar's starting pitcher, Olivier lasted 6.2 innings and looked pretty good. Quote
geezer Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 Cards finish the first game with an 8-2 win and then come from behind to take a 9-7 win in the scheduled Saturday game. Cards pitching wasn't the best early giving up two runs in both the first and second innings and a run in the third to be down 5-1 after three innings. The Cards score at least one run in each of the next five innings including four in the bottom of the seventh. Lamar has a chance for the sweep tomorrow. Quote
puddin tane Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Yup, starting pitching may be a concern..who knows, only first start. Kid LU brought in to finish was flat out filthy! 20 something hits, 13? Walks, game 2 lasted forever Quote
geezer Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Lamar drops the third game 3-2 giving up the winning run in the top of the tenth. Cards had plenty of opportunities to push other runs across throughout the game but didn't get the job done. Next game is Tuesday at Texas and then back home Wednesday with Kansas. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted Wednesday at 03:59 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:59 PM I saw where Texas run ruled LU last night. Surprised that I beat someone to posting this I am hearing that Texas is going to be really good, so I am not reading much into this for LU and their season, at least not at this point. Quote
lu cards Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM Posted Thursday at 03:36 AM Lamar gets a good midweek win over Kansas 4-1 ! Quote
geezer Posted Thursday at 04:07 AM Author Posted Thursday at 04:07 AM Lamar takes down University of Kansas at home this evening. 4-1 Cards travel to Dallas Friday to take on UT-Arlington for three games this weekend. Quote
coachacola Posted yesterday at 09:33 PM Posted yesterday at 09:33 PM LU did lose their pitching coach so it might mean the pitching won't be as good this year. The last few years they've started off strong and faded down the stretch. I'm not judging this team just yet. Quote
geezer Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Not the start of last year, but as always if you're not in a major conference it comes down to the end of the season and the conference tournament. Need both pitching and hitting to become more consistent. Quote
