cardinal Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 Woodward was encouraged and they competed...please. Booooooooooooooooooooooooo. That's what a loser says. No kidding!!! what a damn joke!!! What game was he watching?? I saw almost nothing to be encouraged by. Oh, on other thing I noticed number 5 looked like the same old number 5 from last year, minus the occasional deep completion. Quote
puddin tane Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 woodard oughta apologize to the fans that showed up.. Quote
Guest LU 17 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I agree with pudding. Ray owes us an apology. Just wait, if he thinks the stands were empty yesterday, keep losing and at the last home game it will be band parents and players parents. Quote
coachacola Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 The rain may have kept some fans away, but this team is very boring to watch. A scoreless spring game was no fluke, the offense really hasn't progressed much since then. I figured it would take time for the offense to jell with a new OC, but has anyone seen any improvement? And today in the paper Woodard says a full house would have made a difference. I doubt that. All the other SLC schools play in front of small crowds, that's the way it is a the FCS level, so don't blame the lack of fans on why you lose. With this team, you know they'll beat the teams the lower level teams so who cares about that? And with the conference games they'll be lucky to only lose by a few touchdowns. Who wants to endure that for 6 home games? Others have brought this up. Woodard makes a little more than the coach ULM. Coker at UTSA only makes a little over $200K, not that much more than Woodard. There are good coaches out there that Lamar can afford, will they take the initiative and fire Woodard after this season and bring in a good coach? I'm afraid Lamar will say this offense is young, most of the team will be back next year so we're giving Woodard one more year to turn things around. Quote
Guest LU 17 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I can't believe Woodard is blaming the lack of fan support. Again, that's what losers say. In fact, I cannot recall any coach anywhere saying the home team fans hurt the home team. It wasn't like we were booing the home team or anything. By the way, the other start up program in Texas (UTSA) is 5-0. I'm glad the crowd wasn't bigger, it would have run off more fans when they saw this pathetic game plan. Woodard better watch what he is saying or he will start running fans off with his mouth instead of his poor football team. Quote
Guest LU 17 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Ok, I just watched the you tube presser Cardinal posted. Nobody is pissed off. It's like losing is starting to be accepted, as long as we compete. I think the BRI nation is more upset than the coaches and players. Maybe we just expect to much. It's hard for the fans to get excited and be excited over such a boring team that doesn't win. Quote
Guest CardAmbassador Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Don't really no what to say right now, very disappointed with the way this season is turning out. I really thought with different coordinators we could turn this ship around, doesn't look like that is happening though. :( Quote
geezer Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Not implying anything positive about the on field game coaching, but when you change offensive styles it takes a couple of years to get the players in place to play the new style. Texas has gone through that transition and have a couple of less than desired seasons to show for it. Having said that, it doesn't change the fact that we can not block for runs or pass protect worth a flip. It is somewhat hard to blame the qb when he is running for his life, but it doesn't seem like Moss has the arm to through the deep ball. I would think that if K Johnson is as good as he appears you should be able to throw deep and loosen up the defense. Quote
geezer Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Another dissapointment yesterday was it seemed obvious to me that when SELA brought #4 in to qb they were going to be a run first team and we did not respond. Quote
QB 22 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 If this offense is so complicated run something else. When I heard our stud running back say the qb at his other school told him what to do on plays makes me think he might not be eligible long if he is not in jail. This whole mess out there is hard to believe. First he closes practices because he feels people our telling our secrets and now because the product is bad it is because of lack of fan support. How many people do you think showed up at Burton HS which is a spot on 290 nine miles west of Brenham and Navarro which is in Corsicana. Please!! I know this is a rant and probably does not make sense but he needs to put the blame on himself and the coaches not the crowd size. Pile on if you want too but I have said from day one he is way over his head. Quote
Guest LU 17 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 In regards to the closed practices, I'm sure people are dying to get a look at our offense and defense...since we are so good. I can tell what your missing at practice...run up the middle and a couple of short passes out in the flats. Ok boys, let's do it again. The offense doesn't look very complex to me and obviously SELA didn't think so either. We scored 14 offensive points. Quote
puddin tane Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I've been watching Lamar a long time...how bad was this? Gotta go way back. This was Bob Frederick bad. A bigger crowd would have changed the poor play calling? The timeout management? The confusion on defense? Made special teams better? This was boring and bad. Pack your bags, Ray... Quote
jdcurran235 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Why wait til the end of the season to fire him. Hire a new coach before the end of the season so the new coach has more time to recruit. Woodard just needs to go. He gave it his all and it just isnt working. Quote

Blaming the lack of LU fans fror the loss is classless. I have defended him longer than I should, but I do not see this program getting better with him at the helm. The secondary looks confused, we are starting to get plays into the huddle late, QB seems unsure when he passes & has no zip on the ball. No leadership on the sidelines, including coaches and players. People walking around in some country club atmosphere. All the teams we play "are really good teams", but seems only when we play play them. I hate to put the program back 3 years with a coaching change, but I think we maybe waisting our time hanging on to this guy & his buddies. I believe Dr. Simmons has a huge decision to make in November before he retires concerning the football program. Quote

I would think that if K Johnson is as good as he appears you should be able to throw deep and loosen up the defense. He has no pocket presence. He is scared to stay in the pocket and step up and throw the ball. 99 times out of 100 he makes up his mind who he is going to throw it to before the ball is snapped. He locks in on one person and if they aren't open he takes off running. Quote
cardinal Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Hahahaha...puddin was dead on! http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-footbl/recaps/092912aaa.html Another reason for the piss poor crowd was probably the big Gift of Life event. Another reason why having a day game was so damn stupid. Quote
QB 22 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Now do you know why he left Kentucky!! Guys leave other schools for a reason and usually they are not for good reasons. Kinda like putting retreads on instead of new Goodyears!! I do not care how well you played as a player you are as good as a coach as your players are, cannot block no offense, and cannot tackle no defense. It is not the scheme but who executes it. Quote
