Why so much negativity toward this guy? Of course we all have our opinions looking outside in. But the guy is a hell of an athlete no doubt and when he gets the ball it immediately becomes trouble for any defense. We just have to get it to him!! First, choose a quarterback and stick with it. How is he or any other receiver for that matter, suppose to have any chemistry with either quarterback? Maybe him and berry are not on the same page..think about it, he throws him a deep ball and he is not running. Throws a slant, and he is not looking. Then on the interception he cuts the route off.. This guy came from a top notch program, that won games! Lets not mistake this guys apparent "attitude" for competitive spirit. I'll be watching him more Carefully Saturday to see his effort on certain plays, but thus far i have been impressed with him.

KJ has 3 drops on the season, (unless I'm forgetting some). All in the first half of the Langston game. He came out second half and caught 2 passes, 2 touchdowns. Haven't seen him drop a ball since...someone correct me if I'm wrong.... And i agree, we need to start slinging it around more

KJ seems to remind me of the Randy Moss/Terrell Owens mold wideout...while yes these types of guys do at times seem like ticking time bombs, when you get them involved early and let them make plays they can have an enormous impact on the game...our line isn't built to allow whatever QB sit back and wait for KJ to get deep so, as its been stated on here a lot lately, Kueck need to get a little more creative...personally would like so see a little wildcat with KJ and Sims in the backfield

I think KJ scored a TD against Prairie View from the wildcat formation. I don't they they've run that play since then.

oh i thought i was just an end around play...either way the point is you have to get the ball in this guys hands for him to make plays...and he's proven when you do he will make them

I've watched him and watched him. It is not a chemistry problem. It is a Johnson problem. He is one player, we should not make special concessions just to keep him happy. If I were qb i would not throw him the ball. You cannot trust him. Sorry, but that is a fact. Why is he catching the touchdowns? Because, if the QB's are allowed to throw to a wide receiver it better be his way or he is going to start pouting. Have you ever seen him get open? I haven't. He was covered on most of the touchdown passes and it just took perfect throws. Wait, I think he was open on a slant once.

He's looked alright by me. Agree with coach, he's made an impact at KR - and he's got a knack for the endzone. The more reps he gets, the better he's gonna get. What would have happened if we didn't have him? He's dropped a few, but he has serious big play potential. He is a major asset to this team. We need talent, and KJ's got it.

Played a good game. Spoke with berry on the sideline numerous times. Congratulated his teammates after they scored. Stood by herschel's side when he was down, and saw him blocking for DG on one of his runs. Kj is a team player. I'm sold.

Nick Canizales@NickCanizales Lamar's Kevin Johnson was named honorable mention for SLC Offensive Player of the Week. Every time he touches the football, it's a TD

Christopher Dabe@cmdabe

Lamar WR Kevin Johnson has 11 TDs on 28 touches. Nine of his 16 catches have been TDs. Also scored on a rush & a kickoff return. #BEscores

I think KJ is part of a really nice corp of receivers. I like Barry Ford. He's made some nice plays this year. He's got good hands and can catch the ball in a crowd. I like VanLawrence Franks. The guy is fast and quick off the line and he's made plays this year. What about Kye Hildreth or Reggie Begelton? Throw in Peydon McVey and Cory Soto at TE and Garrett and the running backs that are good out of the backfield like Caleb Harmon and Mike Venson. We don't lack for weapons and KJ is part of the package. If we can run the ball like we did against McMurray and Prairie View there's no reason that a another year in the weight room and at the training table we can't field a better O-line. Maybe as they play longer in the system they are doing a better job than they did at the beginning of the year. Heck, if they can't run the ball just do what the Saints do with their running backs, throw screens and swing passes to get them out into space. Anything to slow down the other team's rush and keep the chains moving. One thing that will help is to get better accuracy out of the QB position. Another thing is better familiarity by all with the offense so they don't miss their reads. We all want Lamar to be better but maybe they just don't have all the pieces in place. They are only 2 1/2 years old. Also, I never could read a player's mind from from row 24, or 47, or from TV. A lot of people didn't like Michael Irvin when he came out because he was demonstrative on the sideline. Turns out he was the emotional leader (re: heart and soul) of the Cowboys of the 90s. Maybe we shouldn't be too quick to judge KJ.

That is a very good question and one we shouldn't be asking! Sparks has a hellva lot better hands then what we have seen so for this season!!
