coachacola
UCA made two big passing plays that led to 14 points. Neither team had a TO. Garrett and Harris ran for a combined 186 yards. UCA had 337 total yards compared to 282 for Lamar. Great effort by Lamar on the road against arguably the best team in the conference. Moss, Simms and Johnson did not play due to injuries (migraines in Johnson's case according to one report).
Guest LU4LIFE
I thought Lamar did a good job of going into a very good teams house and fight the whole game. The O Line needs to do a better job if we are going to win games against good teams.
Guest LU 17
I don't think there was any doubt who was going to win, but I thought we played hard and it seemed like our O line did some good things in the run game. I can live with progress and our turnovers were good. I talk plenty of crap about our coaches. So I will say our run game was decent against a good opponent and our pass defense was also decent against a good QB and passing attack. We played a good UCA team close last year. If we can start winning the turnover battle, I think that is what we need to put us over the top and win some close games. Lets play SHSU and SFA competitive and win a couple more games this season. Blowouts will definitely be big setbacks.

Guest eagle eye
The UCA announcers were laughing at us because with 9 min left and the score 24-7 we were running the ball. Probably the reason we went right down the field, they were probably in a prevent and we were running. Is that really trying to win??? or would ya say trying not to lose badly? however the defense did a great job but I think we really had only one drive. The last one was them playing back for the pass and we were running. Offense needs overhaul.Hard to tell what it is. Are our QB's that bad or are they handcuffed by Kueck? Do not see us winning anymore games..hope I'm wrong. Notice the stat line? Lamar was running the ball because that's what was working. UCA announcers can laugh all they wanted but if the Cards score after the long kick return deep in UCA territory they wouldn't have been laughing. Lamar ran for 186 yards and had 282 total yards. Do the math, they were doing the right thing. It was huge not scoring even a field goal early in the 4th after that long run back. Lamar could have had a little more urgency between plays but I'm not complaining. The defense has been playing well enough to win of late. The O-line is doing better run blocking, now the coaching staff have to figure out how to get Caleb Berry some time to throw. Also, it was a bigger loss that it would appear on the surface not having KJ in the game. I sure hope we can stick it to nickels in the coming weeks. We are down 17 points with 9 minutes left and we are running every single down. Our coaches quit!! It is disgusting. Either we play to win or we shouldn't be playing at all. It was very evident we were playing not to get blown out instead of playing to win. As for running the ball, I was please that we were able to run the ball but you are absolutely right. I am sure they were perfectly content to let us run run run with 9 minutes, 8 minutes, 7 minutes, 6 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 minute. Oh, and if we are running almost every single down...of course we won't pass for many yards. what a joke.
coachacola
Lamar should have only been down 10-0 at the half but with under 2 minutes left they couldn't make a first down and special teams gave UCA great field position on the punt. I was surprised at the lack of turnovers, but some of that had to do with keeping the ball on the ground. This was their third conference game and they are losing by an average of 9 points. The defense is doing their job, but they are definitely missing a play maker. Kevin Johnson could be the guy but he has yet to show it in big games. Why didn't Berry throw any passes to our tight ends? McVey and Soto had zero passes thrown to them. Were they too busy blocking for the running backs? It's difficult to understand this offense. geezer
We may not like the game plan but, without the special teams meltdown late in the 2nd quarter and the one big play pass in the 2nd half UCA only scored 10 points on sustained drives. LU scored 14. It is a loss but it is doubtful if LU had started slinging the ball late in the 2nd half that the out come would have changed. Let's see what happens with the last four games. Early in the year the O-line couldn't run block or pass block so there is improvement.
puddin tane
Ray is coaching "not to get blown out".... you "start slinging" in the 4th, you have a chance to win...you keep handing off..you keep it close and definatley lose I'll take the coach willing to take the chance to win instead of settling for "close"-----
