jdcurran235 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Another article on title IX. Paints SHSU in a good light. SHSU has made a lot of progress since 1993 (when the article was written). They should be proud of that. I have a feeling LU was in similar situations in 93 but I could not find anything. "There are no roadblocks to Title IX in place here," said Brenda Lickman, a kinesiology professor and member of the university's Athletics Council. "I don't think you can call up other people across the country and hear that." Ronnie Choate, who has worked at the Huntsville school since his student days in 1955 and is in his first year at athletic director, acknowledges Sam Houston is not in compliance in some areas. Sam Houston's 1990-91 report to the NCAA and the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that men's participation levels, scholarships and expenditures outnumbered women's 3-to-1. http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl/1993_1138450/gender-equity-going-for-the-green-funding-battle-h.html Quote
Who Dat Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 if this happens then the lamar administration and the local media are some awesome at keeping things under wraps because it hasnt been talked about at all by the major media outlets locally. i still think were years away from even thinking about it. Redrain07 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Well said. I would love to see the Cardinals at the FBS level but I would prefer if we made the move on good terms. Let's get it turned around at the level we are at. Build a solid competitive base then make the move. Right now we aren't getting the job done in the only sport that generates any revenue. I'd like to see us win the southland a few times before we move anywhere. Just my thoughts. Quote

We need to move up when the iron is hot whether we win or lose. Quote
Guest Cardinalrule Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 JD, you do realize that Lamar is the one adding a sport(Softball) not SH in order to be Title IX compiant. SH currently fields 9 Womens sports teams and with the addition of Softball LU only fields 8 so though you may think LU is high and mighty over SH we would not have any trouble being compiant nor would we be in need of adding an additional sport. The only area you are ahead of us is in quality of facilities and you have a budget thats bigger by a couple million dollars. Sam Houston is crap and always will be crap. SFA is crap, McNeese is crap, Texas State is crap, USL is crap, Northeast La is crap, La Tech is crap, Arkansas State is crap, NWSU is crap, Nicholls is crap, SE La is crap, UTA is crap, Tx ATM CC is crap, yall are all crap. LU is awesome...yall all are just step children. We have the best fan support and the best education in the SLC Quote

I would too so I can continue to tell kingkat how crappy an institution SHSU is. Quote

Redrain07 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I wish I was cool enough to troll team boards for schools not even in my division. Quote
cougar king Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I wish I was cool enough to troll team boards for schools not even in my division. You mad that I follow and know more about Lamar football than more than half of your student body? Quote
Guest WOS95 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 i think half of the student body wasnt even born the last time lamar had football... Quote
Redrain07 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I've got no problem with you knowing anything about Lamar football. What I don't get is why you troll the Lamar boards and trash the team and the school. If you think it's so bad just stay of BRI. That's all I'm saying. You mad that I follow and know more about Lamar football than more than half of your student body? Quote
Redrain07 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Not to mention you troll several teams message boards..very sad life indeed. I thought you'd be busy working out getting ready to walk on at UH? http://www.gomeangreen.com/?p=3 Quote

Redrain07 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Yeah you do a good job of that. Listen dude I'm glad you love your school and I hope you make the team (if that is really true) but there isn't really a reason for you to be on here. Let's be honest.. Quote
Redrain07 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I heard we have an invite but we have to hire an entire new coaching staff or recruit an entire new team. Quote
Guest Cardinalrule Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I heard we have an invite but we have to hire an entire new coaching staff or recruit an entire new team. I might be in denial but I think we have enough talent to win. The o-line might be a year away but we certainly have more talent than 56-7. So, that leaves coaching. Quote
Redrain07 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I agree there is talent assembled but it is either being misused or underutilized. Mean while our staff knows that our O-line isn't where it needs to be but we run the ball 50 times a game? Can anyone explain that to me? Quote
coachacola Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 This conference movement talk will slow down until the spring. Rumors will probably start picking up again as we approach next summer. I'm still sticking with Lamar and Georgia Southern getting invites in the next year or two but I won't be holding my breath. Quote
Redrain07 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I just don't get why we even want to move to FBS right now? Yes I understand the athletic money is better but we are pretty much just setting our teams back another 5 years IMO. Quote

Yes I understand the athletic money is better but we are pretty much just setting our teams back another 5 years IMO. Someone put it this way earlier, "if you're already getting blown out now, why not move up and get blown out there," same result, but more money from guarantee games. Quote
geezer Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 There are several advantages at the FBS level, although I agree it almost surely extends the number of loosing seasons. The depth from the extra scholorships, the opportunity to bring better schools to Bmt which could increase attendance and yes LU would get paid more to go take a beating from the OSUs and Baylors than they can get as an FCS team.
