LU to Sunbelt??

Another article on title IX. Paints SHSU in a good light. SHSU has made a lot of progress since 1993 (when the article was written). They should be proud of that. I have a feeling LU was in similar situations in 93 but I could not find anything.

Ronnie Choate, who has worked at the Huntsville school since his student days in 1955 and is in his first year at athletic director, acknowledges Sam Houston is not in compliance in some areas. Sam Houston's 1990-91 report to the NCAA and the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that men's participation levels, scholarships and expenditures outnumbered women's 3-to-1.

if this happens then the lamar administration and the local media are some awesome at keeping things under wraps because it hasnt been talked about at all by the major media outlets locally. i still think were years away from even thinking about it.

Well said. I would love to see the Cardinals at the FBS level but I would prefer if we made the move on good terms. Let's get it turned around at the level we are at. Build a solid competitive base then make the move. Right now we aren't getting the job done in the only sport that generates any revenue. I'd like to see us win the southland a few times before we move anywhere. Just my thoughts.

If we do that we will never get to move up. Schools will move ahead of us and doors will close. We need to move up when the iron is hot whether we win or lose.

JD, you do realize that Lamar is the one adding a sport(Softball) not SH in order to be Title IX compiant. SH currently fields 9 Womens sports teams and with the addition of Softball LU only fields 8 so though you may think LU is high and mighty over SH we would not have any trouble being compiant nor would we be in need of adding an additional sport. The only area you are ahead of us is in quality of facilities and you have a budget thats bigger by a couple million dollars.

I might be in denial but I think we have enough talent to win. The o-line might be a year away but we certainly have more talent than 56-7. So, that leaves coaching.

I agree there is talent assembled but it is either being misused or underutilized. Mean while our staff knows that our O-line isn't where it needs to be but we run the ball 50 times a game? Can anyone explain that to me?

This conference movement talk will slow down until the spring. Rumors will probably start picking up again as we approach next summer. I'm still sticking with Lamar and Georgia Southern getting invites in the next year or two but I won't be holding my breath.

Someone put it this way earlier, "if you're already getting blown out now, why not move up and get blown out there," same result, but more money from guarantee games.

There are several advantages at the FBS level, although I agree it almost surely extends the number of loosing seasons. The depth from the extra scholorships, the opportunity to bring better schools to Bmt which could increase attendance and yes LU would get paid more to go take a beating from the OSUs and Baylors than they can get as an FCS team.
