KABrother88 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 That would be him...Stephen Griffin's twitter bio says he's the girls basketball coach at Archbishop Hannan Quote
baller Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 He is a talented High School player who is not a senior. Quote
coachacola Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 I don't get it. I think he's a sophomore this year. Wouldn't that make him a 2016 recruit? He made 2nd team district this year. What's so outstanding about this guy that he would commit this early? http://slidell-independent.com/vickers-feraci-brown-named-district-mvps/ Quote
baller Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Athletes and their parents like to post things.Sometimes it is accurate, sometimes it's early and sometimes they just like to post.Schools do not comment on potential recruits. This is positive but does not help next year's roster. It seems he is a talented high school senior from the New Orleans area where our coaches have solid connections. baller Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 He is a sophomore and all verbal commitments are not binding . Quote
coachacola Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Lamar signs a 6-10 JUCO player, LeMon Gregory of Angelina CC. https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-LeMon-Gregory-155899 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9rPn783ENA Stats: 7 pts, 5 rebounds per game Quote
Knightman Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 LeMon looks interesting on youtube, and I am so glad that signed him!!! I am so glad that he has some weight on him too, it kills when teams signed these guys to go to war in the paint, but they are only 6-10, 200-215!!!!!! Go Lamar!!!!!!!!! Knightman Quote
BigNasty92 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Stats sure don't sound all that impressive. Quote
coachacola Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Coach Price signs a 6-2 JUCO PG. He was also being recruited by Texas State University, Pan American, College of Charleston, Tennessee State and Weber State, according to the article. During his sophomore season Jones shot 41.6 percent from the floor, connecting on 94-of-226 attempts, while draining on 28-of-84 shots from behind the arc averaging 33.3 percent from the 3-point range. He shot 76.2 percent at the free throw line, connecting on 112-of-147 attempts at the charity stripe. http://connorsathletics.com/2014/04/23/cowboys-jones-signs-with-lamar-university/ Quote

coachacola Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 verbalcommits.com has Dontavious Sears signing a LOI with Lamar. He's a 6'5" shooting guard from Eastern Oklahoma State College. (JUCO) http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/dontavious-sears He has pretty good stats: 16.7 PPG, 6.6 RPG, and shoots 40% from 3-point range. http://region2athletics.com/sports/mbkb/2013-14/div1/players/dontavioussears0ck5 Quote
geezer Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Assuming these signings are for the 14-15 season it appears that as many as four underclassmen are not returning from the past years team. Quote
coachacola Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Assuming these signings are for the 14-15 season it appears that as many as four underclassmen are not returning from the past years team. The Griffin kid is probably a 2015 recruit so Price has signed 4 guys: Bosha, Gregory, Sears and Jones. Wilson graduated, Hilliard is transferring, and the rumor is that Rhon Mitchell won't be back either. Bosha will be on an academic scholarship next year so it looks like Gregory, Sears and Jones will replace Wilson, Hilliard and Mitchell. Assuming Lattibeaudiere plays next year then that's 5 new players. Quote
Knightman Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I like the way that this recruiting class is stacking up, and I will it will going a long way in helping us get to where we need to go!!!!!! And one thing about it, the only way we can go is up!!!!!!! It will be interesting to see how the roster looks as next season gets closer!!!!! I would love to see us add some quality good solid people that want to transfer from the bigger conference, like Larry Brown, and it looks like my friend Kelvin Sampson is going to follow that same mold with the Cougars!!!!!!!! Go Lamar!!!!!!!!! Knightman Quote
Big T Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I leave town for a couple of day and look what happens! I'm fairly excited about the two guards. We needed some size inside so he went out and got some size with the 6'10 guy, but I hope he didn't settle for him. Like already stated, he doesn't look all that impressive. Overall, a pretty decent class it looks like. Better than the last several years, that's for sure. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I was at an AAU tournament in Houston this weekend and did spot a LU assistant coach. The SLC was well represented as I saw coaches from about 5 other SLC schools. Quote
geezer Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I would say if he can put up those stats at LU he will be at least comparable to Osas. Quote
Knightman Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I am all for the athletic teams that Pat tried to put on the floor, but you need that space eater in the middle to keep you from getting killed on the glass, and that happened way too much here at Lamar and when he was at Tech!!!!!!! I am glad that Coach Price saw the need, and took the steps to address it, and I would love to see him sign another one so that if LeMon gets into foul trouble, there will be another just as big and bad to take his place!!!!!!!! Go Lamar!!!!!!! Knightman Quote

badndn Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Sounds great, but why would a young man from Alabama choose an offer from LU over an offer from UAB? Quote
coachacola Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Lamar has an offer out to 6-8 PF Merrill Holden, a JUCO player from Lincoln Nebraska. He has many offers, including Washington State. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/merrill-holden Quote
