coachacola
The men's roster on the LU website has been updated for 2013-2014. Freshmen: Owens, Mattingly Sophomores: Mitchell, Hancock, Minton, Blanks Juniors: Norman, Green, Ross, Lattibeaudiere, Holliday, Hilliard Senior: Wilson http://www.lamarcardinals.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/lama-m-baskbl-mtt.html
geezer
Hate to sound a little pessimistic, but only Norman is taller than 6-6 and the 6-4 to 6-6 guys don't appear to have enough weight to contend with an opponent who is 6-8 or taller. Guess Doty decided not to return.
LAZEEK
Owens 6'1 295!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Obvious typo!!!
West
Hate to sound a little pessimistic, but only Norman is taller than 6-6 and the 6-4 to 6-6 guys don't appear to have enough weight to contend with an opponent who is 6-8 or taller. Guess Doty decided not to return. We won a conference championship without a post presence. Osas was an intimidating shot blocker but hardly a significant piece. Stan wasn't counted on that season either. If these guards can shoot the ball & our 6'5 guys are scrappy enough to get the ball, then this team might win more than 3 games. TBonesLU
This class shows some promise. If you look at the PPG for some of these guys, you'll notice double-digits for quite a few of them. We also have the nation's second-leading rebounder in NJCAA in Octavius Green. Nimrod Hilliard- 11 PPG, 7 APG, 4 RPG Octavius Green- 13 PPG, 13 RPG Anthony Holliday- 16 PPG, 2.5 APG, 2.9 RPG Marcus Owens- 14 PPG, 9 RPG Donovan Ross- 14.8 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 67 FG% Tyran de Lattibeaudiere- 5.6 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 5.0 BPG
Knightman
I like the make-up of the roster, and I think that the biggest key for us is getting leadership out of the older players, but I think that we will have a solid year!!!!!!!!!!! Go Cards!!!!!!!! Knightman
Lamar Pride
I'm not sure how accurate the heights are. College coaches occasionally fudge one way or the other on player size. In JUCO Octavius Green was listed at 6'7" and Tyran was listed at 6'5" and 6'6" at various times. Donovan Ross was listed at 6'7" as a freshman at Southeastern. Either they all shrunk or their size was not reported correctlyby somebody.
Knightman
Well one of the things is that the when the NBA measures, they do it with their shoes off, but I know that Bob always measured the guys that for him at West Point, IU, and at Texas Tech with their shoes on, because as he said that you play basketball with your shoes on!!!!!!!!! Go Cards!!!!!! Knightman
00hmh
It still remains that this team has no post defender. That will be a problem. Lack of a post up big man is less of a problem. RMK's best Texas Tech team relied on a 6-3 post man with the 6-10 center playing more outside than inside. But he did have that big guy to guard the other teams big man... Knightman
00hmh, yes, I wish we could find us an Blake Griffin or Kevin Durant type of post player, that was a monster in the paint!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Cards!!!!!!! Knightman
00hmh
We could be VERY good in conference with someone much less talented. Without we can win in conference, but will have real trouble against good mid majors, much less the top schools.
