coachacola
Arkansas St beat Central Arkansas 99-56 a few days ago. I think it's possible Lamar won't win again until they play Nicholls State on Jan 9th!!
geezer
LU will be in trouble again on the inside. Ark St has a 6-10 inside player averaging 16 pts per game and 25 minutes. Key will be can anyone step up and hit the outside shot consistently to open up the chance for Ross to work the inside. Actually you need two outside shooters. Owens looked pretty good against UTPA can he do it again?

LAZEEK
No such thing as a "moral victory", but LU played really well tonight. Making open jumpers, contested jumpers, driving to the rack and hitting a few 3s. Really thought this was LU's most complete game. I really had them pegged for about about 20-25 point loss. ASU is very good, and would win the SLC. IF, and a big IF Lamar plays like this the rest of the year they will be very competitive in conference. Thought that some players got some confidence tonight. Wilson, Hilliard, Mitchell, Norman all had good games. PK shortened the bench tonight and only played 7-8 players consistently. Holliday and Mattingly played maybe 2-3 minutes each. I was pleased with the 7-8 man rotation.
geezer
It may be an up and down year as these kids learn to play at this level. Biggest disappointment was Mitchell not playing hard every time LU was on defense. Granted Johnson for ASU was extremely hot from the three point line making 8 of nine but probably half of the first eight really weren't contested and more than anybody else I didn't think Mitchell really went after him. Finally the last seven or eight minutes LU stayed with him and got a hand in his face to take away the good look. Was really impressed with Norman's contribution both by stopping the inside beating that Van Slyke was creating and also that he scored as much as he did. He really has a decent face up shot from about ten foot. Also liked the bigger line up that PK went to late in the game. I think the line up of Hilliard at point and Ross, Wilson and Green on the back line and either Owens or Mitchell on the wing could work well in conference. Knightman
I had the good fortune to watch some of the game over the internet, and as has been stated, we competed hard in the game, and never gave in to them, so even though we came up short in this game, there are alot of positives that can be taken from these few games including the ASU game!!!! We are a better team than last year's team, and have some scoring opitions that are going to be there in most games, so I am honored to root like heck for this team, and the lady Cards hoop team as well!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to the next game, Let's Get Them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Lamar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knightman
austin badbyrd
From the article in Sunday's Enterprise: "I think we have the talent to win it all in our conference," Hilliard said. "I think we need to all buy-in, listen to coach and get better in practice. I think we'll do it, just day-by-day we're getting better." It seems like the players are owning it....
