coachacola
Shouldn't they release the schedule first so you know what games are actually on the home slate and when?
geezer
With the exception of one open date that I think they are looking for a home game the other 11 dates are listed in the season ticket package. Not positive which conference games are home and which are away but it should be four and four, plus Grambling and whoever CMC is for a minimum of six home games. Based on last year SAM and SELA should be coming here. 8/30 Grambling 9/13 ? 9/20 CMC ? 9/27 Sam Houston 10/4 ACU 10/11 SELA 10/18 Nichols 10/25 Open Date 11/1 HBU 11/8 UCA 11/15 UIW 11/22 McNeese
LUSportsFan
While it would be nice to have a finalized schedule, I'm glad we are starting the season ticket renewal process a lot earlier than last year even with one question mark. I see several positives. 1. It gives season ticket holders an opportunity to spread the payments out over a longer period if needed. 2. It lets the athletic department know of any seats released by previous season ticket holders earlier in the game. The marketing of those seats can start earlier. Although the prize give aways were not an incentive in my case...I had already planned to renew...they might help speed up the renewal process. I checked websites for several universities. The season ticket renewal process was started around the first of the year in many cases. If I recall correctly, we have started the renewal process pretty late in the game in the past. Starting season ticket renewals late seemed to hinder the possibility of promotions for new season ticket holders as well as single seat ticket holders. The accountant in me looks at covering variable costs. I'm all for promotions that can maximize revenue creation to cover the variable costs associated with our athletic programs. I would like to see well advertised, innovative promotions that would help maximize utilization of any excess capacity we might have. I see getting the season ticket renewal process out of the way early allows more time for the remaining ticket sales to help work on the "unclaimed capacity". The games are a lot more fun with the stands full. I don't know what the AD plans are, but I think activities that will get more people in the stands would be a good thing. Once we get them there, we need to have a product that will keep them wanting to come back for more. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Based on the mailing, it looked like the schedule has been firmed up except for one more possible game. An unknown September 13th was not make/break for me. With our projection of six home games already, I would expect the ?? date to be an away game. Of course another home game would be pure gravy. :) I imagine the Athletic Department would like to upgrade the schedule as well. I'm satisfied as long as they are making a determined effort toward that goal. As Geezer noted, below is the list that was in the renewal package. It matches the one Coachacola has been updating in the first post of our "2014 Football Schedule (Incomplete)" thread. The package didn't break the season down by home vs away, but I'm assuming that our projected thread is pretty close since just about all of it is based on backing into the schedule based on our opponents' published schedules. (Home/Away is from our thread). Based on our thread, we have at least six home games. Two of those are with historically strong teams in the conference. http://www.bigredinsider.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=245&jfile=index.php&topic=38571.0 With that, I'd like open slot filled with a money game or a good FCS away game (if we can't get a 7th home game). Aug 30 - Grambling - HOME Sep 6 - Texas A&M - AWAY Sep 13 - ? Sep 20 - Mississippi College - HOME Sep 27 - Sam Houston State - HOME Oct 4 - Abilene Christian - AWAY Oct 11 - Southeastern Louisiana - HOME Oct 18 - Nicholls State - AWAY Nov 1 - Houston Baptist - HOME Nov 8 - Central Arkansas - AWAY Nov 15 - Incarnate Word - HOME Nov 22 - McNeese State - AWAY
