coachacola Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 In 2011 LU beat Nicholls and a bad SELA team for 2 conference wins. In 2012 SELA was much improved so LU only beat Nicholls in conference. Last year SFA had a down year so LU beat them and Nicholls. This year LU already has 2 conference wins with 4 remaining. The HBU and IWU games should be easy wins, but can LU actually do the unthinkable and actually beat one of the top conference teams? Quote

If they were every going to do it, this would be the year. UCA and McNeese are little down from previous years. And like someone said earlier, we tend to play UCA close each year. A win in Conway or Lake Charles would look good for the program. If we fall flat against UCA and get blown out, then I think you can count us out against McNeese as well. Quote
lu cards Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 lamar needs to win 3 of 4 four and not get blown out for Woodard to keep his job.imo Quote

puddin tane Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I think they are burning Keeler in effigy at slam i like the aggie board...aggies are about to blow a heat gasket...ha Quote
CraigS Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I think they are burning Keeler in effigy at slam i like the aggie board...aggies are about to blow a heat gasket...ha Yes they are. On the same note here at LU, it looks like the cards will definitely finish 7-5 and possibly 8-4 with a win over UCA. Then what, will Woodard suddenly be the man, or will some still call for his job (behind a screen name)... Quote

LUFAN Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Woodard will only get to stay if he fires his whole staff again... but he has already done that one time and we didnt do much better... Quote
geezer Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 At this point in the season the Massey ratings indicates that LU is improving year over year. I agree that the schedule this year is much weaker than last year when we played SFA and NWST but LU didn't have any control over the conference schedule. The Massey ratings should have that factored in and it says LU is improving. I agree that LU must compete if not win either the UCA or McNeese game to make this year a true success. Although I don't really think Woodard and staff are the long term answer, I think it will be very difficult to convince the powers in charge to make a change with a 7 & 5 or better record. Anything more than a one year extension would be a mistake, but I would like to see how the offense handles the change in quarterbacks next year. The O line and other skill positions will have experience. Can LU keep improving? Quote
BigNasty92 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I gotta agree with you, Geez. Scheduling or not, a 7-5 record will still be the first winning season since we've brought football back. So, I don't you can or anyone would fire a coach after that. As far as being able to continue to improve.... I think we have indeed improved in many areas over the years. I just don't think that were are improved in ALL areas. I still believe that our o line has been the area that has consistently been underwhelming. Our overall size and (especially) depth are an issue year after year. I would also say DL depth is one that's up there, too. Quote
