eagle eye Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 +1 to every single positive thing said in this thread. GO CARDINALS!!!!! Quote
dirtybird Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Great win tonight, the Cardinals are coming of age, good to see them win one of these close games. Lamar had quite a few fans in the stands tonight, great to see that too. Congrats to the players and coaches on a very good season. Quote
LU1991 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Glad we made the trip to watch LU overtake it's arch nemesis. Best game to watch all year although the last 5 minutes took10yrs off my life. Congrats to the seniors and looking forward to next year. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Not that this will surprise anyone, but I went to the McNeese athletic site to read their article about the game and it centers around the replay call!! Haven't seen the play so I don't know how questionable it is or isn't. Quote
lu cards Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Glad I made the drive over.we had a blast watching the cards beat the pokes.thought lu was the better team regardless of the penalties. Quote
CardinalClaw2 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Great way to end the season. GO CARDINALS!!! Quote
LU1991 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 The replay call was initially called a fumble and a touch down for McNeese so they had to have something to overturn the call and make it an incompletion. It was the best incompletion of the year! Quote
Guest mendelj Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I kept my mouth shut all game cause I'm too superstitious as to not jinx it...but what a friggin win...do I care that we played basically McNeese's 3rd string??...nope...suck it pokes! KA do you always have to look at the glass half empty! Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 KA do you always have to look at the glass half empty! Why is that looking at the glass half empty? It was a great win for the program. Was MSU decimated with injuries? Yes. Is that part of football. Yes. So do I care? NO! Quote
thatguy Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I'm not sure how mcNeese was decimated with injuries.....I saw the same OL, TE and receivers. And the same DL and LBs and corners that I saw when they played a couple of weeks ago against Nicholls. And the only QB out was number 4. Sounds like excuses to me. They got beat plain and simple! A lot of their fans are mad about the two unsportsmanlike penalties, but here's what I saw as I sat on the mcNeese side. The Nelson kid was juggling the bak ass he was going down. As the mcNeese safety picked up the ball and ran in for the appearantl score, Lamar #9 was trying to tackle the mcNeese kid, but was being blocked by a mcNeese LB and was thrown on the ground. Then the mcNeese LB started punching #9 while he was on the ground. (Unsportsmanlike #1) During which time about 10 mcNeese players left the bench area and ran into ends one after the appearantly score (unsportsmanlike #2). Those are the only two penalties in football that can be enforced consecutively. If mcNeese fans want to be mad.....then be mad about not having any discipline and being out classed, out played and out coached....the win and the stats say it all!!! Great job Cardinals! Quote
coachacola Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Didn't "CS" tell us that there was no way Lamar would beat McNeese and the ceiling for this team was 7 wins? I can't believe he was wrong!!!! Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 According to McNeese people they were down to their 3rd or 4th string QB and 4th or 5th string RB...but like I said...don't care that's part of football...win is a win Quote
dirtybird Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Also one of the McNeese coaches went running on the field. That's when ref threw 0ne flag. I didn't see the second flag. Now one thing I got to say, Coach Langston has done one heck of a job coaching the O line. They were pretty much rock solid this year. Caleb Berry had a great year, and will be missed. Good luck to him, and the rest of the seniors. Quote
LUSportsFan Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 A little trivia.. Reading the McNeese State game notes, the Cardinals had won five of their eight series wins at Cowboy Stadium before yesterday's game. Yesterday's win makes six of nine. Looks like we have more success against them in Lake Charles than in Beaumont. The Cowboys still have the overall in Lake Charles, but it is not nearly as one sided as it is on the Cardinals' home field. That and a personal loan, will buy you a cup of Starbuck's coffee. :) Quote

cardinal Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Didn't "CS" tell us that there was no way Lamar would beat McNeese and the ceiling for this team was 7 wins? I can't believe he was wrong!!!! More proof that CS is an idiot. A few things - I've been a huge Caleb Berry fan since he came on as a freshman and finished out that game in Beaumont with a broken ankle. You could tell he was athletic and had a great arm...and that game proved how tough he was/is. However, I've been hard on him too in the big games this year because he didn't play well. Great to see him have a great game his last game as a Cardinal. I hated that he threw the two interceptions but he showed his toughness again and led us down the field for the win. Bottom line, he was a huge reason we were leading this game to begin with and he's going to be sorely missed. The play calling was finally ballsy in this game. A lot of passing and no letting off the gas in the fourth. I don't care that it led to two interceptions. Passing got us that lead and trying to hand it off 3 times in a row would have led to a three and out. I've been hard on the play calling but it sounded like we were very aggressive and were calling plays to win instead of calling plays like we were scared. It sounded like the o-line did a fantastic job with protection. That unit apparently had a great game? Congrats to the cards and thanks to the seniors who've been busting your butts every day!! Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Lets hope that Berry will get a look from the NFL. He could be a Kurt Warner type success story!! Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I would like to see some more interviews with Seniors, Berry and Beard come to mind quickly!! Quote
LUSportsFan Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 I was thinking the same thing or up north across the border in the CFL. He'd fit in with their game. It was fun watching him play along with the rest of this year's seniors. Quote
puddin tane Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 On his show Woodard said there was a good chance of Beard returning ..medical redshirt Also, he said Berry had separated his shoulder vs Incarnate Word. said he told Woodard "no way" would he sit out. Quote
