geezer Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Saturday's mens game just got bigger, at least in how the rest of the season may go. ACU defeated NWST tonight by fourteen at NWST, LU only plays NWST this one time and have a pair of games against ACU. Edited January 17, 2015 by LUSportsFan Quote
coachacola Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 LU has a good chance of winning the next 3 games against NW State, SELA and HBU. If they can do that then they'll be 6-1 in conference heading into a big home game against a really good SFA team. Quote

It's a shame LU can't participate in the conference tournament this year but I'm real happy to see the progress they have made in a short period of time. Quote
Guest austinred Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Coach Price mentioned on his radio show this week that they still have an appeal pending regarding the APR probation this year. Osas Ebomwonyi got his degree which somehow helps with the APR rating Quote

Two games over .500 16 games into the season, and a 3-1 (.750) record in Southland Conference play may not sound like much to the average basketball fan. But for a program that is trying to overcome a two-year stretch that saw a total of seven wins and only four conference victories, 2014-15 can be viewed as a huge step in the right direction. Winners in seven of their last eight games, head coach Tic Price's Lamar Cardinals are the talk of the Southland Conference, and others are beginning to take notice. The Cardinals (9-7/.563) took another one of those "steps" Monday night in Corpus Christi, Texas. After watching A&M-Corpus Christi bury six first-half three-pointers and take a 10-point lead, the Cardinals staged an impressive second-half rally - which they have done so many times this season - that came down to the wire before the game was decided. geezer Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 This is a critical game for the ladies as Northwester St is currently in first place with LU in second. The winner will have the tie breaker as LU only plays NWST this one time. Quote

geezer Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 LU played better than they have in some earlier games but need to get their shooting percentage up (LU at 36.6% compared to 48.5% for NWST) and cut down on the turnovers. LU up big on rebounds which is keeping LU in the game. Quote
LUSportsFan Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 NSU 54 LU 49 @ 15:34 remaining in the game. Gregory and Owens have 3 fouls each. Quote
