coachacola Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Game time is 7 pm at the Hammond Center. Audio | LU Game Notes | Video | Live Stats http://www.lamarcardinals.com/news/2016/1/17/MBB_0117160427.aspx Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Another typical start for the LU men. Lamar down by ten at the under 12 timeout in the first half. Fouls and turnovers again. When are these guys going to learn how to start a game? Quote

geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Lamar is down by 24 with about three minutes left in the first half. Lamar went six minutes scoring a total of two points. Lamar is shooting about 22% at this point and have 11 turnovers. Also have nine fouls including three offensive fouls. Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Halftime SLU 54 Lamar 27. Key stats for the half: SLU shooting 64% Lamar shooting 27% Lamar 11 turnovers Lamar 11 personal fouls. I don't care if we are "young", this is ridiculous. SLU has 22 points in the paint to go with 7 three pointers. Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Question for some of you who are a lot closer to what's going on than I am, is Bosha still hurt from last year or something over the summer or fall? It seems like he was coming along early last year and then got hurt which I understand but it doesn't seem like he is contributing this year at all. Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 At the under twelve timeout Lamar is down by 22, playing better in the second half but still nothing to write home about. Nzeakor is having a decent game. Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Final score SLU 97 Lamar 70. SLU shoots 58% for the game. Lamar only had two turnovers in the second half which is good but the eleven in the first half doomed them. Nzeakor appears to be coming around as he ends the game with 12 points and 8 or nine rebounds. Unfortunately all of his points came in the second half. Edited January 19, 2016 by geezer Quote
Sweet T Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Zjori is still hurt from last year. He missed the entire offseason because of multiple ailments. He currently has groin, hip abductor, knee and back issues , which results in mobility problems. His movement is not as fluid as it was. That in itself is a big deal, because he is a finese player. He also doesnt have the endurance needed to be effective, because he didnt train in the offseason and because he has gained 17 lbs.He had a groin procedure performed about 3 weeks before the season started I am thinking he might now need an ephiseal thethering, but an orthopedist has to make that determination. His play started to deterioate around midseason of his freshmen year, because he suffered a mcl, pcl and medial meniscus tear. He is not playing much , which I think is great. His body needs to heal. It has been an uphill battle. I know this, because I am a close family member. Lamar ' s trainer has assured his mother that he will be a beast once he is healthy. I am praying that next season he will be injury free. Edited January 19, 2016 by Sweet T Quote
geezer Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Thanks for the information. Did Price consider redshirting him this year? It sounds like he should have. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) I was told that he couldn't get a hardship waiver, because he had to have a season ending injury like a ruptured acl. The NCAA considers what he has, nagging injuries. I was hoping he would meet the criteria, but he didnt. Edited January 19, 2016 by Sweet T Quote
Skinny1 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I would be surprised if this team wins another road game. We do not seem to have the leadership & toughness required. I thought early in the season, Booze could be the leader of this team, but this has not happened. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 You can't really make any predictions when it comes to this team. They are so inconsistent. They barely lose to a team that could easily win the conference,(texas A@m CC) they then get blown out by a winless team in the conference. They might win the next 3 games or they might lose them. I don't know what to think. Quote
lu cards Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 when you best players are true freshmen this is what happens.very disappointing but atleast the future looks bright. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I think that the team is imploding. I think Preston should call a meeting. Quote
coachacola Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 [tweet]689893238711267328[/tweet] Just having Weisbrod in the rotation next year should help the team a lot, especially on offense. If Zjori gets healthy then that's two scoring threats added to an already good (but inconsistent) offensive team. Quote
