coachacola Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 7pm start time I believe. Could get ugly fast. It'll be on ESPN3. Quote
geezer Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 While I agree it could get ugly quick as LU has shot very poorly in the away matches so far this year I'm going out on a limb with a saw and predict Lamar plays SFA better than they did HBU. SFA doesn't have the 6-9 or bigger player that can carry their team. The big man for HBU got them going early. Going back through at least Roc and maybe before that Lamar has not demonstrated that they have been coached how to play against a true center that can block shots. Lamar's biggest problem will be keeping Booze under control. His driving the ball to the basket head on into the forwards and centers and then throwing up a wild shot really hurts Lamar overall. Sorry but I don't believe his defense makes up for his offensive miscues. Lamar also need point production from the forwards. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 At the first media timeout SFA is up by five. Booze is trying to do too much. For the most part Booze is bringing the ball up court and it doesn't leave his hand except as a shot attempt. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Following the first timeout Lamar commits back to back to back turnovers and are now down by 12. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 At the under 12 minute timeout Lamar is down by 8. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 10:30 left in the first half and Lamar is leading in turnovers 7 to 1: Make that 8 to 1 just under 10 minutes. Make it 9 at the 9: 30 mark. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Now at the under 4 minute time out and Lamar has committed enough turnovers and one on five offensive plays to move to a score of 37 to 14 in favor of SFA. Yes I have started sawing on the limb. Quote
LUFAN Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Wow we are terrible. We are playing less fundamentally than high school team. Traveling, carrying the basketball, and not even going to the ball on passes. These guys are college kids need to remember basic basketball. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Just when I thought Booze was gaining control, he starts to regress. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Why is it so hard for them to realize that they need ball movement? Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Lamar down by 25 at halftime. Lamar went at least 7 minutes with out making a field goal while committing multiple turnovers. I don't know whether Lamar has a real offensive set but if they do these guys refuse to run it. I would venture to say during this game seven out of ten trips up the court the ball never gets passed. Quote
LUFAN Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Geezer you are spot on. We have no motion to our offense. We look like we are standing still against other teams. Quote
cardinal Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Geezer you are spot on. We have no motion to our offense. We look like we are standing still against other teams. And why do you think that is??? It's called coaching...or, in our case, no coaching. I wonder if umphrey is happy with his hand picked coach??? We are awful. We've been getting out coached for 25 or 30 years!! Until our administration realizes that we need someone who can actually recruit and coach and that it may cost a little money we will continue to suck Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Ten minutes left in the game and Lamar is down 70 to 36. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Well we made it to the under 8 minute timeout and LU is only down 77 to 39. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Tic Price must be so frustrated. How many times does he have to tell the guards to run the "motion" offense? I bet some of the other players are very annoyed. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 It's time for Price to bench all four of the small guards. This team would be much better off playing four forwards who would pass even if they can't play defense and one mid size guard such as Owens or Bosha. At least maybe these guys could learn to protect the ball and pass to each other. Although if there is not an offensive set to run then we still wouldn't score any points. Lamar down 83 to 45 at the under 4 timeout. Quote
geezer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Final score 86 to 52 Lamar looses another. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Bosha is on 75% healthy, but I think he can still outplay those four guards, but the coach doesnt want him to experience any setbacks in regards to his health. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 It would be nice to see owens or bosha (if he were healthy)playing point guard or the 2 and sears at the three. Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 They are supposed to be running a motion office, the guards refuse to run it. They just want to shoot. The other players are very frustrated. Garth averages about 13 points a game, but he averages about 15 shots a game and he only shoots about 39% from the field. Quote
LUFAN Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Man I hope price gets these guys to get on the right page. They have major talent. Bench the guards if they don't follow Quote
Sweet T Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 They just need to play unselfishly and run the offense. I think that Price is very upset based on his interviews after the game Quote
cardinal Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Do they even use screens? What's a screen? LOL. And if this is the players not listening to the coach that's pretty easy to fix. Bench em. Quote
