Kevin Booze leaving the MBB team?

If he is leaving, best of luck to him. However unless he could get himself under control on offense and make good decisions I think his playing time was going to continue to fall. Playing time fell off quite a bit this year. Assuming that Mattingly is also finished Price would have two scholarships to offer this spring then. LU could use a couple of bigs.

Kennedy leaving is a disappointment to me as he was the only true big man we had. I agree he didn't get much playing time, I guess he will either go to a lower division or has a year he can sit out if he wants to stay in D-1. Where he should be a senior and in line to graduate next year his departure could hurt Lamar in the academic progress department and eligibility for post season. I don't know where LU stands but it was only a year ago the team didn't qualify for the conference tourney because of it.

Along with Booze & Kennedy, Freshman Forward Boaz Williams is also leaving the team.

That will leave us with 7 scholarship players returning plus 3 signees at the moment:

SR:

Lincoln Davis - G

Marcus Owens - G/F

JR:

Zjori Bosha - G

Colton Wiesbrod - F

SO:

Dorian Chatman - F

Nick Garth - G

Terrance Hubby - F

Josh Nzeakor - F

FR:

Tyrin Atwood - G

Cam McGee - G

Always difficult to find additional recruits this late due to the early signing period. Coaches have their work cut out for them to find 3 more guys.

Sorry to hear Williams is leaving as he was beginning to get some playing time and with Sears and Mattingly finishing up he had a chance to get even more time. Anybody know if it is just lack of playing time or something else like grades or by going the JUCO route he is hoping to go to a better program as a junior?

Beaumontenterprise.com quote by Price "we have too many one-dimensional players". Translation, prima donnas that don't want to pass, rebound, or play defense.

Is SFA loaded with talent? No, but those guys play their a$$ off on defense and actually run an offense...pick, cut, pass...what a novel idea.

The defense took a big step backwards which was really disappointing. Good teams always play good defense and LU hasn't had that in a long time.

The article said Price is looking to sign two guards and a big guy. I decent Juco big man to compliment Catmanand Nzeakor would be nice and it looks like Shane Tamera is the target.

I hope Bosha is fully healthy as he would add a lot of depth. I'm guessing Weisbrod will come in and add instant offense. The big question mark is point guard and probably that's Price's number one priority.
