KABrother88
Senior DE Larance Hale has been dissmissed from the Lamar football team for a violation of team rules. He was a 1st team All-SLC DE last season after recording 86 tackles including 21.5 for loss. Big blow to the DL who is switching from a 3 man to a 4 man front. http://lamarcardinals.com/news/2016/3/29/hale-dismissed-from-football-team.aspx

geezer
Maybe since the program is more established Woodard's tolerance level has gotten tighter and we will see improvement in player discipline during games, such as less personal fouls, fewer illegal motion calls etc., besides whatever seems to have been the issue with this dismissal. KABrother88
Word I'm getting is that Larance Hale has been given an opportunity to earn a 2nd chance to play his senior season. By no means is he reinstated though...he has to prove to the coaches he deserves that 2nd shot.
eagle eye
I hope that Hale takes advantage of the 2nd chance he's been given. Would Hale play DE or DT? A 3-4 DE is a glorified tackle because he has to play gaps and take on blockers to free up the linebackers to make plays. It's a pretty phenomenal stat line given his position responsibilities. I would hope Hale has learned the error of his ways and comes back to help the team, and himself, this season. As for discipline. I have seen on this forum many instances of Coach Woodard kicking a player off the team or suspending a player for disciplinary reasons. As for a lack of player discipline, Woodard and his staff are to blame for that but as this program progresses and better players come to Lamar stuff like that may take care of itself. Lamar did not lack for talent last year but the coaching on the defensive side of the ball wasn't good as evidenced by the total collapse of the defense in the second half of the season. That's why we have a new DC and new defensive scheme in place now. I don't have much of a chance to watch practices so I and the rest of us who can't watch them practice need some good reports from the guys who can. I have high hopes for the Cards this fall. To me, it depends on how well the new defense works and if they have a QB who can spin the ball well enough to compliment Kade running it. It won't be long before practices begin and I, for one, look forward to any and all news.
KABrother88
I would assume if he makes it back Hale would line up as a strong side DE and maybe even move down to a 3-tech DT is some pass rushing situations of we can find other guys who show they can get up field and rush the passer. After watching the spring game there were a couple of LBs that had spun down to play DE including Marcus Odell and Dedrick Garner who were both 2015 LB signees. All players are set to report Sunday so hopefully after players check-in and weigh in they will update the roster and clarify so question marks
