I had been told about him transferring in a while back but some things still had to be worked out so I hinted at bit without name dropping...guessing the hold up must have been scholarship numbers as this comes so soon after Hale was dismissed. With Port Arthur natives Barnes and now Singleton both transferring in after stints at Power 5 schools, maybe we can finally break the barrier and start getting talent at PAM to come to Lamar. We also have Coach Brian Morgan who is a PA native and new DC Trey Haverty recruited PA when he was at Texas Tech.

Also I was told that Singleton is set to graduate from Baylor this spring and if that was the case he could have transfered to any FBS school without sitting out it he wanted...shows he wants to "come home".

It seems like several local kids have come back. The pipeline is there and filled with kids that Lamar could only wish to recruit, on the first go round.

Looks like Singleton is going to be transferring to ULM instead

That sucks. I could be that ULM had a couple players drafted or signed as UFA's. Lamar kids are getting tryouts but ULM is little more high profile I guess than LU.

With Singleton being a grad transfer he will be eligible for this season an not have to sit out for transferring FBS to FBS. I was honestly a little surprised he was transferring down given those circumstances but figured he wanted to be closer to family...guess not. I feel like ULM is going to become a pain in the ass...remember their new Head Coach is Matt Viator who left McNeese for ULM this offseason. ULM has historically been a bad program so I'm sure he is negative recruiting the hell out of us and other SLC schools since we are FCS and they don't have much ammo other than they are FBS. They stole 3-Star DE Ty Shelby from us at the last minute this past recruiting cycle and they were also attacking other SLC school commits and even got a few to flip.

On the surface, it would have been a nice addition to the squad, but good luck to him. As far as negative recruiting goes, it doesn't work if Lamar has a good season.
