eagle eye
I'm confused. According to the SLC standings I saw online LU was the 3 seed. On the link LU Cards posted it says that #3 Northeastern State lost to McNeese 3-0 in the opening game of the tourney. Also, #2 SELA beat #7 NOLA 5-4 scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to steal the victory from New Orleans. We play Central Ark. tonight at 7. BTW SAM is leading SFA 2-1 in the 4th. KABrother88
Believe they use overall record as a tie break on the standings...but for the seeding for the tourney the tie break is head to head...NWSt. took 2 of 3 from us so they got the edge there. In a sense I think we might have caught a break getting the 4 seed instead of the 3...McNeese's top SP is better than anything well see vs UCA. Although being the 4 also means being on the same side as SHSU who is one of the hottest teams in the county right now...
geezer
Cards gave up three runs in the 7th and loose 3-0. Cards play SFA tomorrow at noon.
geezer
Lamar looses to SFA 5-2 to end the season. Love gave up three runs in the first only recording one out before being pulled. The announcers mentioned that when he was pulled during last weekends SFA game it was due to a blister on his finger. Could be his finger wasn't healthy enough. Cards left plenty of runners on base so you can't blame the loss on the pitching alone. Time to look forward to football.
eagle eye
It's disappointing to see the Cards go out of the tourney like they did but we have to give the guys credit for a pretty good season, certainly better than most of us expected. The LU baseball team deserves our appreciation for a job well done. Sometimes you can't pick and choose when you struggle in baseball and the excitement this team generated gives us a lot of high expectations next season when Will Davis takes the helm for LU. Farewell to Jim Gilligan as well. Regardless of your opinion of him we have to give him his due credit for all the years he's dedicated to the LU baseball program. He did do a good job for a lot of years and I, for one, appreciate the years of service to Lamar. Have a long and happy retirement Coach, you deserve it. As for Will Davis, welcome and may you come in and push this program to even higher levels in the years to come. Go LU Baseball!!!
LamarBaseball Alum
We just got back yesterday from the Southland Conference Tournament . Yes, we agree the Cardinal's had a really good year. Glad to see 4 first team all-conference players which led the conference in first team players. 7 all conference players total. Great job guys. With this talented of a team we wish Gilligan would have gotten more out of them during the tournament. Time to more forward. Saw where Lamar Baseball's pitching job was posted. With Will Davis' LSU connections he should bring in a big time pitching coach. Hopefully, Gilligan doesn't have a leash on whom Davis hires.
