Lu_alumn
From what I saw there are way too many good players riding the bench. Could this be a reason why the program hasn't reached its full potential?

geezer
I would say that from what I have seen so far this may be the deepest team individual talent wise since Knight took Roc's recruits to the tourney. Having said that Lamar is still missing pieces that only recruiting will eventually fill provided you believe Price is the right coach and the recruiting continues to improve. The main missing piece is size and a true post player with at least one back up. Size may be close to big enough for the SLC but it won't carry LU past the first or second round in the NCAA tourney if and when they get back there. Although LU beat Oregon State, the shortest player OSU put on the court was 6'4" and they had four players on the team at 6'10" and taller. Early in the year you may catch them off guard and upset them as Lamar did and Prairie View did to Fresno State but by the end of the year that probably wouldn't happen. Fresno States big man at 6'10" I believe went on a roll and there was nothing Lamar's post players could do to stop him. That is when they opened up the lead. Good news is that Lamar has one 6'10" player coming in next year. His quality will not be known until he gets here and starts playing. PeckEm
From what I saw there are way too many good players riding the bench. Could this be a reason why the program hasn't reached its full potential? I'm not sure what's going on with some of the players....like Chapman or Chatman or whatever his name is. He game in as a 3 star recruit I believe but he's not looking like it when he's in there. We have to have players play their ass off, defend their ass off, and work hard at rebounding. We don't look good enough offensively so we are going to have to out hustle the other team. Need to almost play with a chip on our shoulder. Oregon State wasn't nearly aggressive enough against us and didn't appear to have much quickness...but they were big big big. But, we NEED to find someone who can make shots somewhat consistently. And if you don't want to play defense...just stay on the bench.

I do not see anyone on the team in the caliber of Mike James on offense, and we will need someone like him, Jerry Everett, Brian Killebrew, BB Davis, or Earl Dow. PeckEm
Good game for the cards. Missed the first half but second half was good hard-nosed basketball on our part. Playing smart, playing really good on defense playing under control. Weisbrod and Noel really add some good elements to this team...hard nosed, smart basketball from both of them. Liking what I see so far. And chatman had a lot of positive playing time. Made some good passes and more importantly played some nice defense. From the little I've seen of chatman he looks like someone who is used to being just a lot better athlete than other players but in college that alone won't cut it. you have to play hard too. And Garth was hot in the second half. I didn't see the first half but we must have played some pretty stout defense and forced some turnovers?? geezer
Good win for the Cards, next up Prairie View. Early in the year to have three common opponents but PV lost to Oregon State, beat Fresno St and lost to UTSA so it probably should be a win but LU will have to come to play. lu cards
this team can play defense and rebound.still need work on offense but this is the best lamar team since pat knight coached roc's kids to ncaa tourney.

Always liked Gulley. I did some googling and think I read that his cancer is in remission. I hope that is true. His son Jamar went to Hutchinson CC then then to Missouri State a few years ago.
