geezer
For the men today's game at home is another toss up game per the Massey ratings. SELA is currently 2-1 in conference with wins over ACU and IW at home and a loss to HBU in Houston. SELA is led by 6-7 forward Jordan Capps who is averaging 22 ppg with three others in double figures. While their best scorer is the senior forward, they have a 6-10 center that averages 25 minutes a game, with 5 points and 7 rebounds per game, the same type of size that has caused the Cards problems all year. geezer
It looks like the Lady Cards are developing into a perennial contender in the women's conference race. They have multiple players that are capable of carrying the team, and have a potential player of the year in Moe Kinard and another potential freshman of the year in Ashlan Miles. Replacing Kiandra Bowers next year will be important to keep the progression going forward. Ladies win 86-68 with Kinard scoring 31 and Bowers scoring 20. geezer
Men get off to a better start today as at the first timeout the Cards are up by five at 9-4.
geezer
Game remains close through the next four minutes with the Cards up by two at the under twelve. Downside for the Cards is Frenchwood picks up his second foul and is probably out for the rest of the half.
geezer
Cards extend the lead during the next four minute period and at the under 8 timeout are now up by eight at 24-16. Weisbrod is playing very strong on offense as he has 17points so far.
Skinny1
Weisbrod just took and made a 10 foot jumper. There is hope (maybe).
geezer
Cards continue to keep stretching the lead as they are up by eleven with 3:36 left in the half and shooting a free throw after the media timeout.
geezer
Cards close out a very strong first half on a three pointer by Garth. Cards up by 18 at halftime 44-26. Weisbrod twenty five points and only one foul. Frenchwood is the only Cardinal with two fouls.
Skinny1
Lamar leading 44 - 26 at halftime.
geezer
Cards open the second half very sloppy on offense committing three quick turnovers that SELA capitalized off of. Price had to call a timeout to settle them and after the sloppy start came back strong to regain the points lost and maintain the lead through the first four minutes of the second half. Sweet T
I wish Weisbroid would kick the ball out sometimes. He shoots almost everytime he touches the ball, even if 4 people are guarding him.
geezer
Agree about Weisbrod, but on the whole almost every player on the Cardinals tends to play selfish on offense which is one of the reasons at times there is so much standing around. Weisbrod and Nzeakor both need to learn to kick the ball back out when they get double or triple teamed, but several of the guards need to learn to pass the ball more and not as many quick three's or one on everybody drives and throw it up prayers. The only guard I will call out by name as an example in todays game (and yes it was in garbage time) is MaGee. When he came in with 3:00 minutes left and playing the point guard he drove the ball into the lane and got his shot blocked or committed a turnover three times. I know he is a freshman, but that selfishness needs to end now, end of game with big lead or not.
Skinny1
Lamar is tied for 2nd place in the SLC with 4 other teams. UNO is alone in first.
geezer
Actually Lamar (2-1) is tied for third with two others a half game behind HBU (3-1) and a 1-1/2 games behind UNO (4-0). The HBU score just went final.
Dracula
Is the attendance getting better for home games?
eagle eye
For two teams that looked evenly matched on paper Lamar took it to SELA last night. Good to see. I agree there could be better ball movement but you wonder if it's just a lack of familiarity with each other? Glad to see Lamar get the win though and if we keep winning maybe we'll get more fans in the stands. BTW, it's the first time I've seen the renovations of the last couple of years to the Montagne Center. Nice and still the marquee venue in the SLC. Sweet T
There were 2000 people in attendance, which is close to their average. They lead the conference in this category. Sam Houston only averages 850 people per game.

I like to watch Lamar football from the stadium visitor side back porch of the Montagne. On my way back to the car,I decided to cut thru the Montagne, instead of walking around. I took the opportunity to peep in at the court. Because it was empty, I got a very good look at the entire court and seating. It's very nice. On my way out, I passed the buffet table for the bigwigs. That was not impressive at all and neither were the stares from some of the patrons, who were wondering who the hell I was. baller
Stephen F.Austin had about 2500 in attendance for their first conference game against Houston Baptist. After their recent success I believe they have led the conference in attendance.Their arena is nice and holds 7200. Sweet T
I was looking at the numbers. It looks like Lamar averages the highest attendance in the SLC.

PeckEm
SFA - 3,446 Lamar - 1,801 Given how shitty we've been and how good SFA has been, that's not too bad. Then again, some of us remember the days when it was normal to have 6,000 fans in the Montagne.....those days are long gone...
