IS IT GOOD ENOUGH ???

Are you comparing Underwood at SFA as having the largest attendance and budget? SFA arena seats around 5k. It is a nice facility but doesn't compare to the Montange. As for attendance even with their record over the three years of the Underwood era couldn't fill the arena on a regular basis.

Couple things... someone already addressed the facility and attendance fallacies here. But as a "friendly SFA troll" that someone referenced earlier I'm going to go a little further.

With SFA's 7200 capacity I can promise that they were the only SLC school with even one max capacity crowd of late. Usually, even in a down year, SFA has one or two (sometimes more) games at total capacity. If you take out the winter break games where students are out of town, you're probably talking a roughly 5k average in attendance. Not perfect, not what it could be, but far, far, far and away ahead of the rest of the SLC.

WRJ is a rough equivalent to the Montange (and I'd lump Sam's Johnson Coliseum in there too, maybe a half step under the other two). The Montange is a little newer and you could maybe argue a little "nicer" in some ways, but the new hanging four-sided video board (I know Lamar got one too but trust me, it isn't the same) and the game day environment at SFA gives WRJ clearly the best home court environment - and it's not even close. The offices and the locker rooms at both the Montange and Johnson are probably nicer than WRJ, but fans don't really see that part of it. All-in-all it definitely "compares."

And to add to the above - I obviously don't need to post pictures of the Montagne since I know everyone here is well acquainted with it, but here is SFA's WRJ post-2016 renovations:

Without hurting anyone's feelings, I thought before and still think Lamar has the best facility for basketball, SFA is second best not knowing what ACU's new facility is like. I would agree that Lamar's current concessions stink and have for years, but that's not what I go to the game for. But which arena is the best isn't really what that particular post was all about. It was to point out that you get what you pay for and Lamar isn't paying enough for a coach that will bring real success.
