Ladies win their first game against UL-Monroe and will face ACU tomorrow at 3 PM. ACU beat UT Arlington in the opening game of the tourney. UL-M will play UTA at noon tomorrow. Lamar did not play ACU during the regular season, but ACU finished second in the regular season 2 1/2 games ahead of Lamar.

I hope the ladies don't have a hangover from disappointing losses in the SLC tournament much in the same way the men's basketball team floundered in the tournament they played in after a similar bow-out of that SLC tournament. I'd love to see the ladies come back and make a strong run in this tournament.

Ladies drop the first potential championship game with ULM giving up two runs in the bottom of the 7th after having led the entire game having scored one run in the top of the first. The two teams will meet again in a final regional championship game in about an hour. Come on ladies!!!

Ladies win the Regional Championship scoring a run in the bottom of the 7th for the win. It was another tight game with ULM as Monroe scored two in the top of the first. Lamar came back with two runs in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game which is where it stayed until the walk off single by Henderson that scored Rodriguez. Good job ladies!!! Will watch the LU website for where you play next.

I posted this comment on another thread when, in retrospect, I should have posted it on this thread. Wherever it's posted, Spoonbill is absolutely right. Go Cards.

Spoonbill is absolutely right. The Ladies softball team is still plugging away. They not only deserve the support of Lamar and it's fans but they have earned it by representing Lamar, in a manner, that all Cardinal fans can be proud of. Their first game is at 3:00pm today vs Cal Poly and is scheduled to be shown on ESPN3. I'll be watching and cheering on the ladies. For some reason, an old Lamar Rugby song, from the seventies, that we would sing to the other team right before kickoff, comes to mind. Most of the song is neither printable or repeatable but the last part seems appropriate, in an in your face trash talking kind of way. The last part was "We're from Lamar and we say F--- ---" (you can fill in the rest). Ladies, spikes up and gloves down.
