Uh oh, I hope we don't start missing the "good 'ol days" under Woodard! How do you lose to a team that starts the game with three straight false starts on offense? And what's the deal with the bad punts? Maybe Woodard is secretly coaching this team!

Oh, first and 25 and they still convert? How about the second or third and 25 that they converted because of a dumbass penalty by the bench??? I thought this coach was supposed to instill some sort of discipline?????

Wont say it would make a difference but the game is in Nach. Agree that the Cards are hurting themselves with unforced errors and penalties that have are not part of contact during the play.

Are you serious??? You are trying to put this on the officials??? They went above and beyond the call of duty trying to help us!!!

Unfortunately this game went about as I expected. While the defense actually performed better than I thought they would in getting the turnovers, they still have trouble against the run when it can be a run or pass. Too many unforced errors, penalties, the bad snap that the punter fielded with his knee on the ground, a couple of bad punts. Inconsistent offense. Even at that this team may be improving. Next week will again be a tough road game. Southeastern is getting manhandled by UCA in Conway, so they should have a chip on their shoulder and be ready to play next week.

Lamar was +2 in the turnover battle (+3 before the desperation INT at the end) AND was given nearly 200 yards by Northwestern St. due to penalties. Special teams are an abysmal at the moment...averaged 27 yards per punt...and we punted 6 times...but you could really say 22 yard per punt if you count the -13 yards from the punters knee being down to catch a snap. Did you really expect things to be different this early in Schultz first year especially when you throw in the turmoil Hurricane Harvey brought to the fall camp? Give it some time. While I hope I'm wrong I expect Lamar to loose next week and at home to Nicholls. The first chance I see for a win is at Incarnate Word.

We fired a coach who somehow pulled out a win against NWSU. You hire a new coach hoping for improvement. You couple that with playing them when they commit 20 (or more) penalties, and turn the ball over,I think, 3 times. Yes, I think one would hope for a win.

Hell, I picked NWST to win, but I was hoping that Lamar would pull off the victory and make me look bad for picking against them. Yes NWST had six more penalties than Lamar did but they weren't at critical moments, where Lamar had at least two penalties that gave NWST first downs when they should have been getting the ball back. In fact I think there was a Lamar fifteen yard penalty on at least three of NWST scoring drives. Lamar is still a team without a tradition of winning, and teams that haven't consistently been winners have a tendency to disappoint. Edited by geezer

And Colbert appears to be a very good running back. However, he is a quarterback. He or the coaches need to learn that a QB needs to be able to throw. I don't know if it's him, the play calling, or the receivers; but our passing game is abysmal. Our run defense continues to stink (and I blame that a lot on this gimmick defense we've been running for three years now). And all the penalties and bone headed plays are inexcusable. I didn't actually watch the first half, but it sounded like (from the radio guys) that we missed some golden opportunities in the passing game. In the second half, I thought the play calling and lack of creativity was terrible. It looked just like years past. Can ANYONE design an original play? Does every team run the exact same crap over and over? What happened to the tight end??? We used them a lot last week...I think we threw to them once or twice in the second half??? Sorry, i was going to try to sleep on it but damn!!! Edited by PeckEm

One pass to the tight ends. Same 4 plays it seemed, well 8 if you count left and right side. Play calling is predictable to say the least. Lateral passing only until the last few minutes of the game. Defense was on the field tooooo long. Up-tempo with 3 and outs will wear them out. D played their hearts out. The 2 QBs the coaches picked aren't QBs. They can't make a downfield pass that I can't and I'm 50 yrs old. I can only hope they watch the film with an open mind. Otherwise I see 1 or 2 conference wins. Rant over

Some comments from the post game presser...one thing of note was that coach Schultz mentioned that he made up his mind in the 3rd quarter that if we tied scored late he was going for 2 and the win and not playing for OT. You can't say the guy isn't aggressive.
