Sam Houston demonstrated their lack of class again as with a 30 point lead and about thirteen minutes left in the game they bring their starting quarterback back into the game to lead them to another touchdown to take the score to 63-27 with another missed extra point.

Does our defense realize that they are supposed to try and keep the other team from scoring?

Some of the Schemes didn't work, or SHS did an excellent job keeping us off balance. There were too many times we thought run & they passed to someone wide open. Also defense can't stop many good teams with a short field. We pooch kicked twice & should have punted out of bounds twice right before half. What's more frustrating is that we punt the ball out of bounds in 2nd half. I'm watching from the stands in total disbelief. We probably wouldn't have won the game anyway, but certainly shouldn't have been blown out. Decision making by the Staff has to get better. All this first year talk has worn me down. Lots of these calls or (lack of) are unacceptable for a staff that has prior Coaching experience. So it's timeout for the 1st yr comments. I'm done for now with my rant

note to defensive backs---- doing the "no fly zone" gesture, then getting burned on the next play makes ya look like a fool.

the coaches are turrible

No doubt all aspects need improvement including coaching, but sometimes schemes are limited by the abilities of the players. High school stardom doesn't always transfer to college.

I agree, HS success doesn't always translate to College, but please don't kill the little momentum & enthusiasm the kids had so close to half

Still not buying that we don’t have the talent except maybe on the d-line and qb oh, probably need to throw special teams in the mix. There were some huge plays that really hurt, at end of first half. Big stop by defense, offense had been moving the ball EXTREMELY well, and we drop a pass on third down at our end of field. Poor punt coverage and bam, td.

Special teams is hurting too, short punts and kickoffs just give yards away. I don’t know if our punter and kicker are partial scholarships or what but we HAVE to get better in those areas.

kicker is a freshman, i think he's gonna be really good

Agreed I think he’ll be a solid kicker for us. He just needs to build leg strength but that will come with time. He was also a very good powerlifter in HS so he is dedicated in the weight room already. The Punter has improved drastically since his first few kicks but the wind was a factor Saturday and what caused the short kicks in the 2nd and 3rd quarters

But woah...did I just see some optimism out of puddin?!

Posted
Not sure I would call that optimism. You only need a punter if you fail to score and puddin wants scores.

He was talking about the place kicker though. Even if he was talking about the punter how many time have you seen a positive post?

Won’t be much positive from puddin until we “air it out”, “chunk that tater”, etc. of course, at 1-6...hard to find much to be positive about

Your right, it was a positive post and I do agree the kickers have potential. Didn't the same player do both in at least one game? My memory isn't what it used to be.

Yes Martinez was handling both duties early on until Slaydon took over the punting.
