geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Early game with a noon start. Lamar started Weisbrod, Nzeakor, Bosha, Noel and Garth. Lamar got out to an early lead but turnovers and missed shots have Lamar down by one at the 13:01 point in the first half. Lamar hasn't made a substitution year. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Lamar has used three subs in the first half, Harrison, Sullivan and Foster Lamar is up 37 - 28 at the half. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Lamar is leading in rebounds, and have two fewer fouls. Turnovers are equal at eight for each team. Nzeakor picked up two fouls in twelve minutes of action and everyone else that has played has one foul except for Weisbrod who is foul free through the first half. Quote
coachacola Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 LU up by 8 with about 7 1/2 minutes left in the game, but all 3 big guys have 3 or more fouls. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 With 7:19 left in the game Sullivan has fouled out, Nzeakor and Foster have four and Weisbrod has two. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 At the under four minute timeout Lamar is up by one at 64-63. Lamar missed some shots, a couple of turnovers and Tulsa made a strong run. Quote
coachacola Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 LU up by 5 with about a minute left. Good sign that they held their ground during crunch time and didn't give up the lead. Quote
lu cards Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 good road win for the cards.way to start the year. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Lamar wins by seven. Great win for LU. Quote
lu cards Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 anyone know why frenchwood and robinson did not travel with team?winning without your starting point guard makes it even more impressive. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 By strength of conferences this should be the best team the Cards will face until mid December when the Cards travel to Southern Illinois. Quote
geezer Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 I believe the announcers said Frenchwood is still recovering from a pre-season injury and is not at full strength yet. Not sure about the other one. Quote
coachacola Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 The two big freshmen, Sullivan and Foster, played a lot of minutes. I guess they have to since only Nzeakor is the only other player over 6-6. They didn't score or rebound much but they combined for 29 minutes of playing time. Weisbrod is starting the season off right with a double-double. Is Bosha finally healthy? He had a solid game. And no big surprise that Garth led the team in scoring with 23 points, plus he had 8 rebounds. Massey had Tulsa as 12 point favorites. Quote

I don’t know what Tulsa has this year but they usually have a good team. Quote
eagle eye Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 It is a nice win against a good program. Nice beginning to the season. Quote
Skinny1 Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 After the win at Tulsa, the Sagarin Computer Rankings have: Lamar (1-0) #191 Tulsa (0-1) #131 SFA (1-0) #151 Doesn't seem to make sense. Quote
papabear Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 After the win at Tulsa, the Sagarin Computer Rankings have: Lamar (1-0) #191 Tulsa (0-1) #131 SFA (1-0) #151 Doesn't seem to make sense. There's not enough data to run Sagarin's model early in the season, so starting rankings are weighted more until there's been enough games to actually have useful data. Basically, those ranking are pretty meaningless at this point. I think Tulsa lost 7 of 8 double digit scorers from last year, but that was still a good win. Coastal Carolina should be a good test tonight. Quote
