geezer
First home game of the year. Hope there is a good crowd, if the first game means anything Lamar could have a very good season overall and the expectations for home games should be extremely high
geezer
Three minutes into the game and LU has failed to score yet. Only one inside shot attempt off of a rebound that did not go in. Other than that LU has missed like six three point shots. I don't understand why Lamar has so much trouble getting off to a decent start at home. geezer
At the second media timeout LU is behind 13-5. LU is one of eleven from the field and three of seven from the free throw line. Doesn't seem like the same team that played Friday.
geezer
Lamar is down by seven at the half, but have been inching back. Lamar made six of their last ten field goals in the half and free throw percentage is going up to. Eight first half turnovers and three behind in rebounds. Bosha and Weisbrod each have two fouls four other players each have one a piece. CC has fourteen fouls with five players each having two. geezer
Under 12 timeout in the second half and LU has climbed back to a two point deficit on the back of senior transfer James Harrison. Harrison has scored 17 points and I believe the last nine points for Lamar.
geezer
4:33 left in the game and LU takes its first lead of the game as Garth hits his first field goal of the game on a deep three pointer.
geezer
36 seconds left in the game and the Cards are up by two with the ball and 23 seconds left on the shot clock.
geezer
Cards win by six. It wasn't real pretty but it is a win. Two more home games this week. Double header on Thursday following the ladies and then on Sunday.
coachacola
Box score said attendance was 700! Holy crap that is bad. At least they won the game.
SportsGuy
Box score said attendance was 700! Holy crap that is bad. At least they won the game. Awful, but if they keep winning people will show up. Overall it was an ugly game but the last 8 minutes were worth the price of admission. Why wasn't Harrison on the floor more? Dude couldn't miss! geezer
I think he went without Harrison at the end of the game because Price is used to how the five guys that were on the floor play and he wanted what he was familiar with. Also toward the end of Harrison's playing time he had a couple of shots that didn't go down and might not have been the best shot to take at the time. Like you said it was kind of ugly but it is a win.
PeckEm
Box score said attendance was 700! Holy crap that is bad. At least they won the game. I watched it on the internet. The attendance figure sounds accurate based on what I saw. 30 years of losing does that to a program.
Skinny1
Went to the game and crowd estimate of 700 seemed accurate. Thought Bosha & Nzeakor actually played well. They both did the little things, especially on defense that got us back into the game, along with Harrison's 3 pointers. Was disappointed in most shot selections from the guards, seemed not to square-up prior to shooting, but maybe due to size differential of Coastal Carolina's guards to ours. Disappointed in the continuance of Colton not taking or even looking for a shot other than a lay-up. As with SFA and Texas State games at the end of last year, if the opposing team has athletic defenders with some size inside, he can not get off a decent shot. Needs to force them to move out of the paint to defend him and use his quick feet to get around them. I expect him to get 30 points tonight since Jarvis Christian will not have athletic bigs to handle him.
geezer
Unfortunately I'm not sure Weisbrod has an outside shot good enough to force a good defender to respect his outside shot. Also not sure he has the quickness to get past a good athletic defender. I think you may see Harrison become the go to person your expecting from Weisbrod. As for Noel and Garth they have never been able to score consistently against a bigger defender especially when the opponents don't respect LU's outside shooting from either Weisbrod or Nzeakor. I think to achieve what a lot of fans are hoping for this season the new players are all going to have to step up.
