I haven't talked to anyone today that is shocked by the news, just surprised this didn't happen sooner. He's a smart guy but doesn't have the personalty for the position. An AD of today has to communicate with the community and get the businesses behind the programs to help fund the programs. He would go up and down the stands without shaking one hand. His personality didn't energize anyone.

We all have our strengths and our challenges. As a strong donor and father of a graduated Lamar athlete I could really bend your ear on the many attributes of Jason Henderson.I will still strongly support Lamar and want the best new AD we can get but will not accept one sided comments on the hardest working AD I've known who always followed through on projects we worked on.That doesn't mean his detractors may not have valid points,Jason and I respectfully disagreed at times but to not also point out his many attributes is not fair to someone who was overseeing the football game from early til late and did the same for basketball Sunday.Dont forget covering minor sport weekend games in the spring too.Scheduling athletes classes with compliance and practices in mind and keeping up with the 20% progress rule etc.are the details some other AD's have not kept up with.I wish him well and thank him for his time here.

Just a guess but I doubt it's a coincidence that he resigned a few days after the football season ended. That's the marque program and seeing how this season unfolded someone had to take the fall. Lamar had to eat a big chunk of Pat Knight's contract (he got a raise after one year) so my guess is that Henderson was on notice with the football hire and he failed.

Football is too early to tell but men's and women's basketball preseason respect and soccer's remarkable turnaround counterbalance some of that.Still fair concerns aired here.

I disagree about football, it’s not too early. We had one of the worst programs in the FCS this year. We took several steps back. The team we put on the field when we brought football, would have beaten this team.

I will say this. I’ve talked to someone connected with a large donor who had expressed concerns about the lack of any type of nutrition program of any sport on campus. I spoke with someone else who confirmed that the football team was not monitored on what, when, or how they ate.

I have also heard that another large donor removed his support after the Woodard firing. The way I understand it is that Henderson handcuffed Woodard on multiple issues that potentially effected the product Woodard was able to field.

Probably a decent associate/ assistant athletic director, but in my opinion does not have the personality to be running the program. My tailgating group donates over $5k to the athletic department thru the Cardinal Club, but NEVER came by to glad hand with us. Last decent AD at Lamar was Larry Tidwell and I go back to the J. B. Higgins era.

Baller, no disrespect intended, but nobody said anything that wasn’t true. These are not one sided comments, they are just comments. I know he was a busy man because most AD’s are. That’s what AD’s do these days.

That’s the first thing I was asked...Can we get Tidwell back? We would be lucky to get Tidwell back.

Why did he leave to start with? When did he leave us? Didn’t he leave before we brought football back?

If memory serves correctly Tidwell left after Roc was fired. He still wanted to coach but knew that the AD gig along with the coaching wasn't something he could keep up. I think he probably was forced to fire Roc and that probably played a part of it too.

Tidwell was AD and girls basketball coach the first year they brought back football.

Looks like Tidwell is making $150,000 plus...I'm not sure that we can afford him. I believe Jason was making about $30,000 less.

Why we need someone like Tidwell:

Off the court, Tidwell helped the program increase attendance 88 percent over the past three years, raise more than $285,000 in pay for play games and fundraisers, and notch more than 3,200 hours of community service.

I liked Tidwell but I don't believe he is the right guy to be the next AD. I don't think that is where his motivation is. I think he is a coach first and Lamar needs an AD.

Henderson was making $130,000 a year.
