geezer
Lamar men lost this evening to UC Davis. From what I heard of the game I think Davis is probably the best team of the last three games which have all been losses. Cards kept it close and in fact led by one point at half time, but Davis came out hot in the second half and worked out to a twelve point lead. Lamar tried to come back but were unsuccessful. Lamar plays again tomorrow at 2:00 PM Beaumont time.Last chance for another D-1 win before conference.
eagle eye
Lamar at 8-1 looked pretty darn good especially after notching road wins at Tulsa and UTEP. This resent spate of losses is nothing to be ashamed of. They all have been road games and the one point loss to Duquesne is a bit heartbreaking. But, unlike years past when the schedule was filled with either DII school or Power 5 conference opponents this schedule has offered a challenging test and a real opportunity to prepare for conference. I guess what I'm saying is 8-4 doesn't look bad at all. Hopefully they beat the loser of the Radford-North Carolina A&T game tomorrow and head into conference on a positive note. Next Thursday at the Montagne the Cards will host HBU to begin their conference schedule. I have high hopes for this season based on what has happened so far. I look forward to a lot of wins and more people in the seats. This should be a fun 2018.

geezer
Even after dropping four straight, I believe this team still can be very successful in conference. They have some things to correct obviously and no I am not satisfied or happy with these losses. I think there has been one common thread through the losses and that is a long scoring drought at some point in each of the games. The cause for the draughts may be debated but you can't have five to eight or nine minute periods that the team fails to score a field goal. Things that have been observed during the draughts are poor shot selection, turnovers and players trying to do too much. The other common problem during the first three of these four losses was free throw shooting. Today they hit the free throws which may be based on who shot them more than anything else but the players the Cards have counted on have not been making them. Noel shot maybe 50%, Bosha was way down, Weisbrod is at about 70%.
eagle eye
Nice try. U still happy after a loss to nc A&t? (Before answering look at A&T schedule/results ) I’m not happy they lost but 4 road games in a row ain’t easy. I realize NC A&T is no powerhouse but couldn’t some of the Cards struggles be due to some fatigue? There has been some miles put in by the Cards and I won’t throw them under the bus just yet. They come back home now and they have a few days to enjoy Christmas and rest up. Let’s see how they do Thursday. 8-5 is not the end of the world. Let’s remember the Rockets had a 14 game win streak ended this week and they suffered back to back losses despite James Hardin scoring 51 points in each of the losses. Stuff happens as they say. The word is fatigue and a couple of injuries caught up with the Rox. Same could be true of Lamar. Let’s see how they bounce back.
baller
The two tournament losses were actually classified by the NCAA as neutral court games as we were not playing on the oppositions home court. Those neutral games should be a bit easier to compete in than games on the oppositions home court. We were competitive in these games and improved in areas. To compete with the top few teams for the title we have to get more consistent on offense and defense especially when we substitute .I do believe given every conference teams body of work we are a top tier team and can compete for the conference title if we get on a roll.Stephen F Austin's wins at LSU and Louisiana Tech were solid as were Central Arkansas getting a W at Cal and taking UCLA to overtime.
