geezer
The Lamar men will play UTSA Wednesday evening at 7 PM in the first round of the CIT. Will be interesting what the comments are from Price about this opportunity. UTSA wound up 5th in CUSA with a 19 and 14 record. A little confusion for me about where the game will be played. ESPN scoreboard indicates the game is in Beaumont, but the Cardinal web site press release says the game will be in San Antonio. For me it doesn't really matter as living out of state I will either listen or watch on the computer. Dracula
https://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2018/3/12/17108410/2018-cit-tournament-schedule-bracket-results-format According to the CIT website, UTSA @ Lamar, Wednesday, March 14. Congratulations to both the men's and women's teams for making post season tournaments.
geezer
Looks like it may have been changed to at UTSA since the original announcement. Just looked at the CIT web site and it now says Lamar at UTSA, which matches up with the Lamar web site. Would not be surprised if Lamar may have already had the Montange booked for another event or maybe they are saving it for a WNIT game, hoping the ladies can land a home site when those bids go out late tonight or tomorrow after the women's NCAA tourney is set. Skinny1
Maybe we should hanging banners from the Montagne rafters for invites to "also ran" post season tournaments. Probably got moved since the home team must pay a fee to host a game. The standard 1200 butts in the stands probably don't support that expense. geezer
Through the first eight minutes, the men are playing decent from what I'm getting from the radio broadcast. Cards are up 14-10 with 11:40 left in the first half.
geezer
Halftime and Lamar is up by two at 33-31. Cards went up by as much as eight points before having about three empty possessions that allowed UTSA to tie the game up but never taking the lead as Lamar scored two pointers to stay in front. Cards have the edge so far on rebounding by three but have turned the ball over six times to UTSA's three turnovers.
geezer
At the under twelve minute timeout Lamar is now down by two points as UTSA leads 46-44. Cards have been struggling to score for about the last five minutes. Hopefully Lamar can get some better shots and start hitting them. Garth is at the free throw line coming out of the time out. geezer
Approaching the eight minute mark and Lamar is now down by seven as Weisbrod has missed three free throws and over all the Cards have missed five this half.
geezer
3:48 left to play and the Cards are down by four. The team is going to have to play good defense and someone will have to step up and hit some big shots or this season will be over.
geezer
Cards play the dumb game of jacking up three point shots to try to get a quick hit three times in a row when all they needed to do was get two points and a stop to put the pressure on UTSA. Instead they have to foul down by six and UTSA stretches the lead. Nzeakor fouled out with about two minutes left so the guards have forgotten about the inside players. Season over UTSA wins 76-69. I hate loosing winnable games. Edited March 15, 2018 by geezer
