I've seen posts saying "the defense is improved" and "o-line is better". We lost 77-0.

Embarrassing!!

tt's largest margin of victory since 1932. most points scored since 2006. first shut out since 2005. most rushing touchdowns in their "modern day" history.

hell, we're not just bad, but a special kind of bad!

schultz is the secong coming of ken stephens

I realize this is fcs vs. fbs, but we f-ing suck!

Game 3, next week, will answer a lot of questions. I hope you guys can survive your depression and make it to next Saturday. Good luck.

It must have been the first series 3 and out. I didn’t think our defense would hold them to any three and outs (based on the total crap I witnessed last year). But, at the end of the day we gave up 77 points. So, no, we are no better than last year. Bottom line, we hired the wrong coach. I started saying it early last year. Maybe he’s a decent somewhere when he has Andy Dalton and LT. Other than that, he frigging sucks. Are we bigger and stronger? Idk, maybe? Are we better? Well that’s an EXTREMELY low target to beat, but maybe maybe not? From what I’ve seen, no way are we any better than the epic low we hit last year. We will be mired in the bottom 3 of the SLC as long as we keep Schulz. No, I do NOT want that to happen but it’s reality.

Oh, l’ll be there as always, but I may have to quadruple my alcohol consumption to continue watching this garbage. He is a suck ass head coach. His offensive schem is abysmal. We have at least 3 better qh’s than the one he insists on starting and, well, Schulz is just awful

From what I saw of Hoy he is a better passer than Colbert but maybe not as good of a run threat. Colbert passing is way less than adequate but the receivers didn't help any either. They dropped way too many catchable balls and at least two of the interceptions were on balls that could have been caught.
Hoy a much better runner, much faster, and escapes pressure much better with a better arm actually.

I thought the defense played well, especially considering they had no support from the offense. The Oline is better then last year, but the Quarterback and skill positions are what debilitated the offense. I think we need to try number 8 or 17 at qb
A blind man can see Colbert IS NOT a college QB! Schultz needs to get over it. There is no magic potion to fix him.

My two cents on the game. The defense played hard the whole game and never gave up despite being undersized at every position and being in the heat a ton on a very hot day. They were worn plum out before the 3rd qtr. Tech was using a lot of illegal chop blocking (caught a penalty only once) even though they had 40-50 pounds on the person they were blocking. We had some injuries directly due to this. The offense couldn't sustain anything. Colbert isn't a college QB. He doesn't have the arm, running ability, or decision making skills needed. The horizontal passing and running game is OLD!!!! You're not gonna get to the edge on faster kids. Get over it. I know Lamar has the talent to compete in conference play. I just don't have any faith the offensive play calling/decision making will allow it.

From the get go, the first two games were designed to be a scrimmage and and a we may or may not find out what we really have but the cash is nice. The first game every QB got in. The second only Colbert and Hoy but the difference in talent level was apparent so I don't think that you can judge QB play. However, Colbert has shown me nothing for a long time. I understand, if Schultz starts Colbert for game 3, but he better be on a short leash. if Colbert, all of a sudden picks up his play, well and good, but if not, yank him quick and try Hoy and Morse or this board is going to get ugly real fast, me included.

I mostly agree but I'm done giving Colbert chances. He's been bad consistently for too long. The multiple overthrows on 5 yard out patterns by 8-10 feet and finally the forward pitch on the option 4 yards past the scrimmage. He's not the answer and we have to see what we have in the other two. Edited by spoonbill

Just like last year--we look like a group of guys who have a few plays but no idea of where to go with them. I'm reminded of the movie version of MASH when they are getting ready for their football game and the Coach says "I think we should have some plays." Wonder what Woodard is doing these days?

Does anyone think Colbert will last long enough for the weekend guy on Channel 12 to learn how to pronounce his name? #409spoorts should be called #713sports.

So LU hires a long time offensive coordinator and the offense sucks. Some coaches were never meant to be head coaches. Woodard was a defensive guy and at least he had the common sense (or skill) to recruit some good offensive players.

The ESPN3 broadcasts are almost unbearable...I rewatched some of the opener the day after and had to mute it...first of all they didn’t go on air until after Lamar’s 1st TD which was their 2nd possession of the game...but Dan Gresham butchers every name on the roster...he continually calls Colbert “Corbert”. I’m not sure if it was the broadcasters or the audio for the broadcast but a lot of it just sounded like mumbling...and one TD they didn’t even call because they were too busy talking about random crap.

Lamar is moving away from the free ESPN3 to the subscription based ESPN+...I for one don’t plan on spending the money if it’s gonna be the same broadcasters.

Gresham has never been worth a single wrapper of pennies as a sports broadcaster. Was out of pocket for the first game but he has always stunk. Even worse than the LU offense. Oh for the what it's worth department Woodward had a similar love for a certain qb until the eligibility ran out and Berry finished the last game of the season on a broken leg. Berry wouldn't have gotten a chance without the injuries to Woodward's favorite. Edited by geezer
