The updated Southland Conference football standings.

https://southland.org/

Nicholls 6-2 7-3

Incarnate Word 6-2 6-4

Abilene Christian 5-3 6-4

Lamar 5-3 6-4

During the current 5 game win streak, Lamar has outscored the other teams 154-111. Who would've thunk it.

Yep, this year has been pretty amazing no matter what happens next week. The main thing left to wonder about is how the Southland settled on nine conference games since there is no way that everyone can play the same number of conference games with 11 teams and a nine game conference season. You have to play an even number of conference games with an odd number of teams for everyone to play the same number of conference games. Did they think that the team that played the one less game would never be near the top? The Southland either needs to go to ten conference games and play a full round robin schedule or drop to eight so even though some teams will have a more difficult schedule than others at least there won't be a half game difference at some place in the standings. In case of a tie the team that plays the one less game always has the higher win percentage, so if SELA beats Nicholls next week does that make IW the conference champ? Never mind that you could have three teams with 6-3 records two of which beat IW. Guess until it has a chance to affect Lamar didn't care either. Edited by geezer

Right now only 3 teams have conference losing records. That is a lot of beating each other up with nobody dominating. One important thing is that we beat all the Texas teams in our conference that we played. I know that will help with recruiting.
