Pretty sure the state only mandates 10.

There are loop holes around it. Anybody remember how long we waited to hire Morgan after Schultz was let go.

Probably means he can not sign the employee paperwork or offer scholarships.

Keep the debate, and any discussion, of transgendered athletes to another thread. That isn't what this thread is about.

He wasnt debating. And why? Are you the transgender police? Dont want to offend the 4 people that visit this site?

West Texas A&M wins tonight on last second 3 pointer. Will play in the D2 National Championship game.

Wonder if Coach Tom Brown is talking to anyone about his next job?

Another Mid-Major coaching job that was filled today after Shantay Legans left Eastern Washington to take the Portland State job. Eastern Washington promoted the #1 assistant to HC.

Do you suppose they got something from the potential new coach?

Have no idea of the source except CBSSports.com But I am monitoring the charter jet tail number Lamar used to fly Morgan and his family to Beaumont last year.

When Born interviewed Aqua Franklin, she was brought to the Montagne Center at 6:30 in the evening when no staff was around.

Portland of WCC is where he went. Terry Porter of Trailblazers fame was the previous coach

Came from Eastern Washington. Big Sky Conference rival is Portland State

Harold Mann interviewed Marco Born at halftime of the football game. Born stated that we are "deep in the process" and "that several people with "head coaching experience" have applied. He also mentioned that, "the fan's will be happy with the coach chosen to lead Lamar to the Promised Land."

From his comments I think we are getting a coach with head coaching experience. Just my guess.

Northwest Missouri State wins the D2 championship. Their coach has been there about twelve years and as close to a .667 winning percentage. I would say he can definitely coach but could he adjust his recruiting to compete in D1. Just throwing him out as possibility but sounds like Born may have a choice close to picked.

The Lincoln Memorial University coach who lost on the buzzer beater Thursday night versus West Texas A&M accepted the HC job at Indiana State. His winning percentage in D2 was about .750.

He is going to be a hell of coach to satisfy the pundits on bigredinsider.com. LOL

There are a lot of good coaches out there and I do hope Lamar finally picks another good one. I went back an looked at the Northwest Missouri State coaches bio on their web site which I assume was prior to this season and he has a nearly 80% winning percentage. I didn't do the full math when I posted earlier. He may be very happy where he is, having not moved on before. Edited by geezer

David Muoka is transferring so whoever they hire will have to do some heavy duty recruiting so they can stitch together a half decent team for next year.

Well should be plenty to pick in the transfer portal. There are over 1000 players in it now.

How many players will now leave UT- Austin. What keeps a coach taking a new job from asking his players to enter the portal enabling him to take them with him? Shaka Smart would be able to bring his entire UT team to Marquette, even those seniors not going to the NBA.

Maybe if they don't commit to somewhere else before the new coach is hired he can talk Muoka and Harrison into returning. It appears when a coach leaves players can transfer without penalty of sitting out. I wonder where these guys are getting there advice. For Muoka there are quite a few guys in the portal with similar size and his offense isn't going to get him a lot of playing time at a potentially better school. I believe he would have been much better off at Lamar. Edited by geezer

Other SLC schools:

CArk - 3

HBU - 3

SLU - ?

McNeese - 3

A&M-CC - 2

ACU - 0

NO - ?

Nicholls - 1

NWSt - 2

If the rule is still the same, a player that transfers to a school in the same conference has to sit out 2 years. That's why Colton Weisbrod transferred to Lamar Port Arthur instead of straight to Lamar from UNO.

What keeps a coach from transferring all his players- the fact they're still mostly try to get a degree and could lose over a semester of credits (if not more) by transferring.

Then again, at Texas, those guys will probably stick around since it sounds like they're just waiting for the weekend for Chris Beard's buyout to drop.
