geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Early men's game today, when the Cards host ACU at 3:00 PM in the Montange. The ladies are in Abilene at 1:00. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Adams is back for the first time in about six weeks. We will see if he can get back into the offense. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Adams is playing well offensively so far. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 At the under eight-minute timeout of the first half Lamar has a five point lead, 20-15. Adams scored seven points in seven minutes of play so far. It is nice to have two scorers on the floor, in Roberts and Acams. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) Cards get a three from Harrison to close out the half with a one point lead, 37-36. Adams makes a big difference when he is in the game. Cards are in minor foul trouble as they have five players with two fouls, including Smith, McClure and Roberts. McClure only played four minutes picking up early fouls. Adams leads the Cards in scoring with eleven followed by Harrison with nine. Jefferson left the game with a couple of minutes left in the half with a twisted ankle. Edited January 29, 2022 by geezer Quote
lamarfan360 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 ACU is on fire to open the 2nd half. They now lead LU by ten, 54-44. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 A couple of turnovers and some hot shooting by ACU propels them to a ten point lead over the first five minutes of the second half. ACU 54 - Lamar 44. Adams hasn't played yet in the second half. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 We are really weak at the PF/C positions. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 We are really weak at the PF/C positions. Agreed. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Smith picks up his fourth foul with thirteen plus minutes left in the game. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Seven minutes left in the game and Lamar has come back to tie the game at 66, but ACU is going to the free throw line. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 3:39 left in the game and Lamar is up by four. Big problem for Cards is that they have four players with four fouls. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Roberts fouls out with 3:06 left in the game. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 1:19 left in the game, Lamar with the ball and a one point lead. Quote
geezer Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Refs fail to call a reach in foul on ACU, then call a charge on Adams, that wipes out his game tieing basket. Brooks picks up two technical fouls and ACU closes out the game at the free throw line. Quote
lamarfan360 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Lamar battled back from down 14 in the second half to make a game of it. I thought the charge by Adams was a bad call. Quote
geezer Posted January 30, 2022 Author Posted January 30, 2022 I would tend to agree about the charge especially if you don't call either of the two bumps he took as he started his drive. But that is the way this season has gone, close but no cigars. Quote
PeckEm Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 I would tend to agree about the charge especially if you don't call either of the two bumps he took as he started his drive. But that is the way this season has gone, close but no cigars. Looked like he was fouled twice on the way to the basket and the charging call was questionable. We actually ran some different offensive plays! I was in shock! They werent overly effective but at least we tried something different. Our players are still inept at leading defenders into screens. I think Carpenter should start ahead of Reyes. Not a huge difference between the 2 except Reyes has zero offensive skills and I cant recall him ever blocking a shot. And I still think we need to try to run some plays through the post. Also Im hoping Ledet can turn into a consistent scorer next year Quote

Also scored two baskets. Carpenter got two blocks and one field goal. Quote
coachacola Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 And the winless streak against D1 opponents is still alive. Come on Coach Brooks, you can make it to the record books!! Quote
WildCard Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Refs fail to call a reach in foul on ACU, then call a charge on Adams, that wipes out his game tying basket. Brooks picks up two technical fouls and ACU closes out the game at the free throw line. Brooks went off on the official who made the charge call but I think it was more than the one call. The same guy made several calls (including going to the monitor) that hurt Lamar. If the coaching staff tried to talk him it was always get back to the bench. He wasn't happy if we were slow to come out after timeouts. Lots of stuff over the course of the game built up until he made a call that took away a chance to break the losing streak, with 6.8 seconds remaining. Quote
