TBonesLU
The Cards are now at #19 and 25 on the Stats Perform FCS poll and the FCS coaches’ poll, respectively. Apparently, the matter in which they won didn’t hurt them as much as I would’ve expected. Peck ‘em!
NorthoftheBorder
Hopefully the coaching staff works out the offensive kinks and opens up the playbook a little before this Saturday's game against Central Arkansas. They are ranked 7th in both polls. A win over them would be a huge statement for the rest of the year.
coachacola
Will Coleman be back? What did he injure and how bad? I haven't heard anything about it.
puddin tane
Im kinda expecting a beatdown. No offense, and i dont think the defense is playing all that great. Tx southern was more 1 dimensional than us and ran it well. Central arky has a bad ass running back, and they can throw that new fangled foward pass rossomundo——get Bowden involved! TexGator
Glad we've moved up in the rankings. More interested in the "Just win" mindset. If we go 8-4, we're probably not making the playoff. Just keep choppin' wood and rankings become irrelevant. Big test this week!

He was hurt just before the half against Weber State. He returned to the huddle but they had to take him out because the clock was stopped for his injury. Longino threw a short TD pass on the next play. Coleman hasn't played since. He dressed out against TSU (with heavy wrap on one leg)
coachacola
I'm not too excited about the rankings just yet. This weekend is a big test to see if LU is worthy of a top 25 ranking.
NorthoftheBorder
Massey was not to excited about the 3 point win over Tx Southern. I think it updates tomorrow, but right now we dropped 6 to 57th.
coachacola
Updated Massey Composite Ratings 17 - IWU (2-2) 30 - McNeese (4-2) 49 - Nicholls (1-3) 51 - SFA (2-2) 52 - LU (3-2) 71 - SLU (1-4) 88 - HCU (2-3) 111 - A&M Commerce (0-4) 125 - NW State (0-5) https://masseyratings.com/ranks?s=cf&sub=fcs
NorthoftheBorder
Massey has been skeptical, and maybe for good reason, of LU through the first 5 weeks. I hope make good steps improving and at least go 8-4. That would be measurable success in the program. But it will not get us in the playoffs. I guess i have put to much stock in LU keeping to a 7 point game in the first game of the year against Southwest Texas State. Sammy beat them by 1 point on a last second FG on Saturday. Sammy scored the last 20 points of the game and help SWT scoreless from 12 minutes on in the 3rd Quarter. Don't know what that says about either team, but Sammy is 4-1 in the Sun Belt and has even showed up in the bowl projections to go to a early December light weight bowl game. It just floors me that they can take this kind of progression, and here we are stuck back in the past.

We have toughness and "step-up" for big plays. We need to sweep October. That's the only focus right now. And, dude, it's been "Texas State" for 25 years in trying to brand themselves as the flagship of the system.
NorthoftheBorder
They can call themselves “God’s Gift to College Football University”, they will still be Southwest Texas State to me. They are still likely the party school of Texas where more casual sex happens than learning.

Lot's of good people learn and get a degree there. Even my brother and sister in law have advanced degrees from there. That said, I still do not like them. But admit ably, I am jealous that they have executed vision and moved up the ladder. 30 plus years ago, they were DII. They didn't take the position that they couldn't do it, so why try. Like what we have been plagued by, with the exception of the Jimmy Simmons era.
