Cardinals dominated the paint with a 15-rebound edge, eight blocked shots and a twenty-two point in the paint edge. Lamar only committed nine turnovers for the game. In fact the only place Lamar didn't perform well was at the free throw line where the Cards only shot 7-15. Lamar's next game is at Southern Mississippi next Tuesday. Quote
SportsGuy Posted December 14 Posted December 14 This wasn’t even close. Bob Marlin must be done! Cards are clicking Quote
RustyG Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I do believe the Cards are turning the corner. No way we win these 3 on the road last year. Not only winning but dishing out beat downs. Wasn’t able to watch today but I’ve been impressed with the way Marmalejos is breaking down defenses. And just like that Brooks has learned how to coach 😉 Quote
coachacola Posted December 14 Posted December 14 The Cajuns are pretty bad this year. I was watching some highlights of the game and it looked like the Cajuns were already checked out. Next up is Southern Miss and that should be a winnable game if LU keeps playing like this. Quote
lu cards Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Good job cards ! Gonna have to go make a game now. I had kind of written them off but looking like I was wrong. Quote

As bad as I’ve seen them. With that said they came back to beat SELa and lost to Nicholls by 1 in recent games. That would mean trouble for Lamar… but not the Lamar of the last 3 games. Keep getting better Cards Quote
SportsGuy Posted December 15 Posted December 15 Going into the Corpus Christi game Lamar was 302 in the KenPom rankings. After their win over ULL they currently sit at 175 Quote

coachacola Posted Monday at 10:02 PM Posted Monday at 10:02 PM Holifield Named Southland Player of the Week Quote FRISCO, Texas – For the second time in as many weeks, a Lamar Cardinal has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week, as junior forward/center Andrew Holifield was the latest recipient announced league officials Monday afternoon. Holifield's honor, which comes just a week after junior guard Alexis Marmolejos was named league player of the week, was delivered following his efforts in helping the Cardinals post an impressive victory against a tradition rival. Holifield recorded his second career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds – team-high honors in point columns – to lead Big Red to a 74-45 win at UL Lafayette. The victory – Lamar's fourth straight and third consecutive on the road – moved the Cardinals to 5-5 (.500) on the season with three non-conference games remaining on the schedule until LU moves to Southland play full time. Holifield also blocked two shots and recorded a steal in 27 minutes of action. He enters Tuesday's game at Southern Miss ranked in the league's top 20 in points and rebounds and is sixth in blocks. The Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to take on Southern Miss. The game against the Golden Eagles will tip off at 7 p.m. from the Reed Green Coliseum. Quote

geezer Posted Monday at 11:02 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:02 PM The SLC needs to figure out what it takes to get out of the bottom of the rankings. Five schools below 250 really hurts as you get into conference games. Hard to improve and easy to loose ground in the rankings for the rest of the year. Quote
