redbird2002 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I'm not optimistic this week. I thought we would show up last week in Denton and make things interesting. Several FCS outlets picked us as a sleeper FBS upset pick. Now we face one of the top teams in our division and I'm thinking that South Dakota can name their score. I'm pretty sure they would have beat North Texas. Am I wrong? Why aren't we better? Why have lessor schools with less DI history have passed us while we more in less than mediocrity? Sorry to vent. I'm just tired of terrible results. Quote

geezer Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Lamar needs to play a very competitive game tomorrow to build any kind of real support for the rest of the season. South Dakota got beat badly last week but the played well for about the first quarter against a top twenty FBS squad. I wasn't surprised by Lamar's loss, but it felt a lot worse as the Card's couldn't do much of anything until late in the fourth quarter. I hope Lamar can keep it to a two score game. Quote
LU17 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 After getting obliterated by North Texas, like the title says, I am not feeling good either! Quote
puddin tane Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Yeah last week was a fricking joke, but he played everyone but the band tuba section. Maybe this week he will stick with starters AND LET SOMEONE ELSE CALL PLAYS Quote
redbird2002 Posted September 6 Author Posted September 6 Playing much better than I thought so far, the first part of Q1 was shakey, but if they can play like this, then maybe we can be competitive. Quote
geezer Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I've mostly been out of coverage this evening, all tied up at 13 going into the fourth quarter. Saw Lamar got down 10-0 in the first quarter before comiing back to tie up the game before the half. Following an interception by Pugh Lamar took a 13-10 lead before giving up a tieing field goal for SD with under a minute left in the third quarter. Quote
geezer Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I will admit I am surprised. Lamar responded to the SD field goal with a solid possession resulting in a touchdown to take a 20 - 13 lead with 9:51 left in the game. Quote
geezer Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Lamar holds SD, then makes a couple of first downs before punting back to SD with just over two minutes left in the game. Quote
geezer Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Lamar defense holds SD to a turnover on downs at their own 21 to clinch a win. This is a very big win for Lamar. Quote
redbird2002 Posted September 7 Author Posted September 7 They played a complete game. They cleaned up the turnovers and controlled the line of scrimmage. Just a great win! Hopefully this is the start of a special season. They responded well after not showing up last week Quote
SportsGuy Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Nothing like some cooked coyote for dinner! Time to keep the foot on the gas!! Quote
puddin tane Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Great win Coleman appeared to get hurt on last series. Looked like collarbone. Quote
coachacola Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Defense won the game. The offense needs to vastly improve for them to have a good season. Wasn't the new OC retired or something? Right now LU doesn't have much of a passing game. Wasn't a big fan of Woodard but seems he usually recruited some good receivers. Quote
LU17 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I was surprised we only had 200 yards of total offense. I watched the game and it seemed like we wanted to out physical SD on the offensive line and the run. It was a great game and we deserved to win. We outplayed SD. Great win and I enjoyed watching the entire game. Quote

coachacola Posted September 9 Posted September 9 McCown is starting the next game with Coleman hurt. Quote

lu cards Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Heard Coleman was out but haven’t heard the extent of his injury. Quote
coachacola Posted September 9 Posted September 9 From the Beaumont Enterprise ... Quote Three-year starter Robert Coleman suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder during Lamar's win over then-No. 4 South Dakota. Head coach Pete Rossomando said Monday the injury will cause Coleman to miss Lamar's next game. Rossomando said he doesn't expect Coleman's injury to be long-term, but will wait and see how the injury heals. The Cardinals have a bye week after their game against Texas Southern on Saturday. Quote
geezer Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Does that mean the not feeling good about Saturday continues this week? Texas Southern was at least an expected win with the starters, but now you have in the unknown at quarterback. Quote
TexGator Posted September 10 Posted September 10 If we need to "not feel good about Saturday" then I'll "not feel good" The team played a really good game, but they have to go 1-0 this week or it's all or naught. Quote
