LU17 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 In 1985, we started off 3-0 and we were ranked 11th. I am not sure what pole because we didn’t have all these other poles, but we were 11 in the Div 1AA pole. FYI, we finished 3-8. I just looked at the schedule and saw that Rice U. game was the 4th game that year. We had 10 turnovers that game in a game we should have won. I don’t remember much, but I do remember that. Quote

geezer Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Interesting, seven of the eleven opponents in 1985 are FBS today. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 17 Author Posted October 17 So Wikipedia shows the 85 poll and lists us as Lamar Tech, which was not the name for 10 years by that time. SMH! Quote

NorthoftheBorder Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 Couple of questions for you guys. 1) What are the top 3 or 4 polls with the most credibility? I would say that the FCS Coaches Poll and the Stats 25 Poll would be the top two. 2) I wonder what the longest stretch of weeks in row LU has been in a top tier poll in football. This year has the potential to be that. I do not ever remember being in the polls for more than 3-4 weeks in row, but my memory isn't what it used to be. Quote

I think the 2 that the NCAA website lists are the 2 to follow, as well as the one the committee puts together, but isn't updated weekly since it clues people in on what they're thinking so you know, if you're on their list (of 10), you just need to keep winning and you'll likely get one of the 8 byes. We weren't on that last list 2 weeks ago, but I think sweeping the last 4 games would get them that bye (that comes with a home game 2nd Round game). Quote
