NorthoftheBorder Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Let's start chatting about the upcoming game. LU owes them a whupping for the last 5 years! Hoping for the LU faithful to have a post game celebration on the Riverwalk! Quote
coachacola Posted October 30 Posted October 30 How the teams compare against FCS opponents according to Massey: Lamar UIW Quote
geezer Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I expect this to either be a very tight game or Lamar to get blown out. I'm not sure if Lamar's pass defense is strong enough to hold UIW down. Also, I think Lamar defense has allowed too many big plays. Quote

Do you think we have gotten this far with smoke and mirrors, or just a week schedule? Quote
geezer Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I may be giving UIW more respect than the deserve, but Lamar definitely hasn't played the upper half of the conference based on the standings yet. Quote
TexGator Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Planning on being there. Hate that the visiting side is 100% "General Admission" bleacher seats. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted October 31 Author Posted October 31 The Depth Chart in the Game Notes shows Coleman as QB1 and McCown at 2. Passing game is better with McCown, and he is a functional runner. Not sure what the coaching staff is thinking. Quote

Don't say I agree but, Coleman was the starter before getting hurt and while I think McCown is the better choice a lot of coaches don't believe a starter should lose their job because of injury once they're healthy again and McCown may not have had a full week of practice. LU17 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Tex, I’ll be there also with some backup. I hope we have some fans make the trip. This could be a very special season. 1 Quote

Gotta get this win... can't take any opponent for granted. The way UIW has beaten us the last 2 years should be sufficient inspiration, but I'm sure they've been working hard to keep focus. Quote
lu cards Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Huge game. I expect to get uiw’s best shot. Seeing a lot more LU gear around Setx. Let’s get this W and keep the momentum going ! Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 1 Author Posted November 1 I guess no one cares about the game today Quote
lu cards Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Watching game but not liking what I see so far. Is mccown healthy ? Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Not a good start for Lamar. LU goes three and out on their first three possessions. UIW made a nice drive on their first possession for a touchdown and the lead. Coleman started and led the first two possessions for Lamar; McCown came in for the third possession. End of the first quarter. Quote
lu cards Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Mccown looks hurt ! When you can’t get a first in 4 possessions you do t deserve to win. Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 UIW takes the ball after Lamar fails on fourth and one, with another drive and score to go up 14-0 with 6:48 left in the half. No offense Lamar better find some. Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Lamar makes a quick drive to finally show a little offense but come up short on another third down and settle for a field goal with 3:36 left in the half. Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 UIW finishes the first half with a 45-yard pass with 38 seconds left to take a 21-3 lead. Quote
NorthoftheBorder Posted November 1 Author Posted November 1 If we can’t pass for more than 46 yards in a half, we are toast. I really hope that this McCown really can’t go and it’s not a coaching decision. Quote
lu cards Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Our Lack of ability to throw the ball has finally come back to bite us. We don’t ever try to throw the ball deep to open things up. We have good receivers so I don’t get it. Lack of imagination on these short yardage plays is on the OC. Just a bad day all the way around. Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Looks like the blowout I was concerned about is underway. Poor execution, lack of creative play calling and self-inflicted mistakes. The old Lamar Cardinals may be back. Defense hasn't done anything special either. Quote
geezer Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Lamar finally executes a positive offensive drive to get a touchdown with 12:46 left in the game. Quote
