geezer Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Not going to say the skill positions don't need to improve, but the most important improvements need to be both lines. No back can consistently run the ball for positive yards without a lane to run through and no quarterback can be an accurate passer without protection. That's the o-line. The D-line has to apply pressure to the opponents. Quote

I was gonna rag on our o line, until i realize how damn hard our offense has gotta be on them. Defense knows where the ball is headed most of the time. Up the gut. Most our passes are in passing situations. dline had some injuries… but yes, we need to get some bad ass juco linemen in here. as far as a passer, aint high on Rossomando’s priorities. Where yall been? we need to get the play calling outta Ross’ hands. One ofthe worst offenses in the nation. Stats dont lie Quote
puddin tane Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Portal gonna be interesting. I think wer are gonna lose kids over the predictability of the offense i know long time season tix holders that didnt renew cuz its boring as hell. Quote
puddin tane Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Andddd, i think if stubborn ass rossomando woulda loosened up on the macho “we gonna run no matter what” bullshit, we would still be playing. im not expecting air raid…but crap, at leeast run outside the tackles once in a while Quote
puddin tane Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Ok…off my rant. We desperately need 3-4 oline. Dline, havent looked on how bad injuries were, but i think most are underclassmen, and i think pretty good. We need a couple linebackers, to go with miller. Losing 2 starters. And a safety. Pugh was pretty dang good. and a place kicker!! Unless we can find a rule and keep woodard another yr Quote
geezer Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Looks like there are three good sized linebackers in the early signees and a D-lineman that might be able to play linebacker. Lamar doesn't have a bruiser back capable of getting yards up the middle without a good hole, way too many runs stuffed up the middle. The offense has to be complimentary between runs and passes. geezer Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Both lines may be judged as good individually but particularly the offense doesn't consistently make the blocks necessary to run the ball whenever and wherever the coach wants. Just believe they have to get to another level to carry this program forward. Sometimes pass blocking can be that the quarterback is too slow in making his reads, but again I see too much inconsistency. Quote
LU17 Posted December 7 Posted December 7 Geezer, I agree that sometimes (a lot of times) the QB was slow in the defensive read, drop back, planting and throwing. I noticed this especially when we played TSU in Houston. Quote
