I am pretty sure that even if LU beats McNeese and Nicholls, Massey will still have them rated behind both schools.

I will take it.

I don’t want to jinx the Cards by predicting a win, so I won’t. I do want them to win no matter the margin.

Things are quiet this week with no game on Saturday. Hopefully the offensive staff is scheming and working on opening up the offense. This is a chance to heal up the nicks and bruises, and get better with our playbook and execution. I am still positive about how this team can finish, but I have tempered my expectation to 8-4 being a really good season in year 2 of the Rossomando era.

Ok, I was a little bit over the top with my previous post about SWT. Lot's of good people learn and get a degree there. Even my brother and sister in law have advanced degrees from there. That said, I still do not like them. But admit ably, I am jealous that they have executed vision and moved up the ladder. 30 plus years ago, they were DII. They didn't take the position that they couldn't do it, so why try. Like what we have been plagued by, with the exception of the Jimmy Simmons era.

They can call themselves “God’s Gift to College Football University”, they will still be Southwest Texas State to me. They are still likely the party school of Texas where more casual sex happens than learning.

Massey has been skeptical, and maybe for good reason, of LU through the first 5 weeks. I hope make good steps improving and at least go 8-4. That would be measurable success in the program. But it will not get us in the playoffs. I guess i have put to much stock in LU keeping to a 7 point game in the first game of the year against Southwest Texas State. Sammy beat them by 1 point on a last second FG on Saturday. Sammy scored the last 20 points of the game and help SWT scoreless from 12 minutes on in the 3rd Quarter. Don't know what that says about either team, but Sammy is 4-1 in the Sun Belt and has even showed up in the bowl projections to go to a early December light weight bowl game. It just floors me that they can take this kind of progression, and here we are stuck back in the past.

Can’t say that I am not disappointed, but I haven’t given up on the Cards this year. Hoping for 9-3 and a playoff birth.

I agree, this will be a barometer game of where we are as a team. Hopefully the coaching staff has schemed up some offense this week.

Massey was not to excited about the 3 point win over Tx Southern. I think it updates tomorrow, but right now we dropped 6 to 57th.

I see that James Dixon, LU Assoc SID, has a vote in the Stats 25 poll.

Hopefully the coaching staff works out the offensive kinks and opens up the playbook a little before this Saturday's game against Central Arkansas. They are ranked 7th in both polls. A win over them would be a huge statement for the rest of the year.

Does McCown have a live arm? Can he move around in the pocket? We don’t need him to run 70 yards for a TD. I would assume if he could he would already be starting. I think our OC is a dual threat QB type of coach.

This is not how I thought the TSU game would go. Sigh of relief that we won the game late, but, like most everyone, it does make it worrisome about the remaining games. This makes we want to take back my ceiling prediction. I am hoping that our coaching staff is scheming how to grade offensive production with what we have available in the QB room.

I waited until now, 3 games in, to respond. I am going with 8-4 as the floor, 10-2 as the ceiling and ranked in the top 15 for the regular season. But I am thinking that 11-1 is a possibility.

So, thinking about the Culture Shift article, and some of my previous posts on other threads, here is where O’Malley can start the process of long term growth success in football. If the season plays out with Rossomando as it is trending now(need some luck to stay injury free or minimal), he should be talking to key donors and Rossomando about the future, and how to grow the program so everyone benefits, the university, Rossomando, and the alumni/fans! Start putting the plan together now and not wait until a more attractive offer comes Rossomando’s way and we are reactive instead of proactive! That has never worked for LU in the past.

My 60k seating is pure pipe dream. We are long past the ability to get there, unless we have an alum no one knows about with Elon Musk type wealth and a willingness to pour tons of $$$ into the program. Coach's mockup above is much more realistic, if Rossomando can get us where we win a FCS Natty or two and have a program that can compete heads up with the best G5 teams and the opportunity to beat teams like Vandy, MIss State, Auburn or several of the Big 12 schools. If we get there, I will be happy. I would like to have a team that could go into Kyle field and play the Aggies and keep the margin to a 10 point or less margin game. Scare the hell out of em! Coach, keep that mock up. We may want to revisit that in the future.

Was there a radio show on Wednesday? If there was, it is not yet on the Athletic website. I really wish they would do game notes again. They must have cut athletic staff and the game notes were a casualty of that.

Weber St ranked 19 in Massey, still in the top 25, but not in the coaches or Stat 25. I just checked the STATS 25 poll on ESPN and it shows LU ranked 22nd. They are tied for 31st in the coaches poll. Rossomando is getting us some love, would like to see that progress as the season wears on with a bunch of big victories.

What you guys got for this game. Lamar now rated 41 by Massey, second in the SLC behind UIW and followed by Nichols, SE La & McNeese in that order. Tx Southern rated 106. If LU doesn't play down to the competition, they should win by 3+ scores. I am going with 38-13.

would love to see the last game against McNeese to be for the conference championship and playoff seeding.
