    Well, I am thinking we will finish 8-4 and miss the playoffs. For sure, continued improvement year over year, but it will be a disappointment from where I was thinking we were going 2 days ago. If McCown can’t go the next two games, I hope we can at least keep the games close enough to not get embarrassed. For sure our offense will keep our defense on the field way more than it should be to have a chance to win.

    To top it off, SELA is stomping ETAM 35-0 at half, and SFA is up 27-0 on UTRG at the half.

    Disappointing outcome. Puts pressure on the remaining 3 games. I will say it again. We are a better offensive team with a healthy McCown at QB.

    If we can’t pass for more than 46 yards in a half, we are toast. I really hope that this McCown really can’t go and it’s not a coaching decision.

    The Depth Chart in the Game Notes shows Coleman as QB1 and McCown at 2. Passing game is better with McCown, and he is a functional runner. Not sure what the coaching staff is thinking.

    This one has all three SLC teams in, but they are all unseeded. And this one has LU going through NDSU again, which means they see LU as the third place team of the SLC and the last team in the bracket.

    This has SFA beating LU for the title and LU getting the last seeded playoff spot. A win would send them to North Dakota State. Hoping for a better seeding. I think that 11-1 would be a top ten seed.

    We are 14 in both of the two polls that are likely the most respected in the FSC Poll stratosphere. To Gator's point, an 11-1 LU with wins over SFA & SELA will likely be a top ten team and would get a home game. It would also be the most historic, IMHO, regular season for Lamar Football! But I am getting ahead of myself. Only focusing on this weeks game in San Antonio. 😎

    I agree with that assessment. But I also think that 8 games in, unless we collapse, or either SFA or SELA collapse, it is LU, SFA and SELA fighting for 2 playoff spots from the SLC. I would love that all three get in and LU is the top seed of that group with a first round home game! A man can dream!😎

    I see that Coleman started and is QB1 today. Is that because he was elevated or McCown is still dinged up from last week?

    I know that it is typical for coaches to heap praise on the upcoming opponent, but I think that the two things that McCorkle said about Lamar that is beyond the normal coach speak is the culture and the fact that LU has the fewest transfers out. And his statement that he would want his son to play at LU if his son didn't play for him.

    I think that SFA worries me more than SLU, but the Lions appear to be pretty salty themselves this year. I am thinking that the Southland will be a two team playoff league this year, but they might get three. Not sure what scenario puts them at three, but I do not think it includes LU winning the league. If LU wins it, then one of the other two will have 4 losses, and that wont cut it for the SLC. But lets get by NW & UIW first, then we can start talking about playoffs.

    Yep, but we are 23rd in nation in Defense. And if you take out the North Texas game where we had only 119 yds in offense and gave up 462 yds, we would climb in both categories. For context UTRG is 8th in offense and 7th in defense in the nation. Their schedule has several DII schools. I would love for our offense to be racking up 450+ yds a game, but I am very happy with where we are at this point of the season. Much better than we have normally been in our history at 7 games in. And our schedule is not dogsh*t.

    It’s a nice problem to have with Coleman in the wings If we need him, but I think we are better on offense with McCown.
