  1. Can you provide some more background on Mr. Green?
  2. As far as I can tell, he still has not committed/signed anywhere. Maybe he is struggling with academic issues.
  3. Wishing all the fans of the Cards a Merry Christmas, and hoping that 2025 brings unprecedented success with all of the Cardinal athletic programs!!
  4. I do not have a problem with Rossomando gettting an extension. I hope he rewards O'Malley with getting the Cards into the FCS playoffs and making deep runs.
  5. Total beatdown, SDS spanks UIW 55-14. Not a good result for the SLC.
  6. UIW getting blasted by South Dakota State early in the 3rd Qtr.
  7. I don’t think he has signed yet. He just thrashed Desoto
  8. I wouldn’t advise taking that job, but I have to admit he did a good job at Sammy State. Will be interesting to see who they hire. They are 9-3 this year and headed to a no one cares bowl.
  9. One other thing about running, when Kade Herrington was going consistently for 200+ yards/game and juking Sam Houston players out of their jockstraps and then taking it to the house, know one was screaming (at least not loud enough to hear) to throw the ball. If Herrington was on the team this year and ran for 2,000+ yards and we were 10-2 or 11-1 and making noise in the playoffs, we would all be ecstatic with the results!
  10. I think that most of our friends on here are not all that enthralled with Rossomando. Yeah, he has changed the trajectory, but most of the regulars here want to throw the ball 75% of the time. Rosso & Flemings' philosophy is 60-40 run heavy and that bores most of the fans on here. I am good running the ball a little more than passing, as long as it is successful and we win. For me, the most exciting plays are generally watching a player maneuver through traffic, juking and running over defensive players. That can be a back taking a handoff, or a WR running after catching the ball. But bottom line, winning championships is tantamount. If we were 11-1, won the SLC, had a high seed in the playoffs and made a deep run, then I am positive no one would have a problem with a 60-40 run oriented offense. Having said all that, I would like to keep Rossomando around a while and give him the chance to continue to develop the program. We all know we are better off than we were.
  11. Yep, that meant that the Sun Belt, Conference USA and AAC schools were getting involved. One this he does need to consider, Rossomando and Fleming are run first philosophy coaches. He will get his hands on the rock more than most places.
  12. SFA just beat Abilene Christian Saturday, who made the playoffs for this year.
  13. As slight as it is, there was improvement from last year and that is a good step. I think they were close to being 9-3. I am unsure of what the Cards are losing and have returning for next year, and where they could use some immediate help to be competitive.
  14. I would really like to see the win this game, go 7-5, and show a little improvement from last year. Would be good on the recruiting trail to show the continued improvement. Let 2 very winnable games, SFA and SELA get away. Hopefully Rossomando gets the QB and offensive play improved before next year. Not sure how many starters we are losing after this year.
  15. A victory today puts us with the same record as last year. Need to win in Lake Chuck to make marginal improvement.
  16. There was a day (actually for 20 years or so) that LU basketball was my number one favorite team/sport to follow. By the time we got to the late 90's, with Grey Giovanine as coach, I just lost interest. I let my season tickets go and I now just check in and keep up with how they are doing, but don't spend really any time following. It became really clear then that the leadership really did not want a team that could get into and win a game or two in the NCAA tournament. They left the Sun Belt, clearly admitting that they knew they didn't have what it took to compete (I say it was coaching much more than financial resources). We had a pickup with Jimmy Simmons in leadership, but truly his focus was football (he wanted to re-establish the marching band) and I am thankful for that. It is sad to see that basketball is an afterthought, and we field a team just so we can have enough sports to stay conference eligible. Truly sad when you think of where we were in the late 70's to mid 80's with basketball. I liked Alvin Brooks as a player, but he doesn't have what LU needs, the ability to take a little and make a lot out of it. That is what Tubbs had back in the 70's, and what we need from every coach, in what is considered a major sport, to be a championship level program. Remember, winners win no matter what the circumstances, losers don't!
  17. They would probably check tickets if we sold more than 12k of them and they all showed up for the game. We are going to have to be a bit more exciting on offense, and win some games we are not supposed to for the attendance to pick up. The AD needs to get in Rossomando's ear about that.
  18. I am pretty sure that even if LU beats McNeese and Nicholls, Massey will still have them rated behind both schools.
  19. I don’t want to jinx the Cards by predicting a win, so I won’t. I do want them to win no matter the margin.
  20. Things are quiet this week with no game on Saturday. Hopefully the offensive staff is scheming and working on opening up the offense. This is a chance to heal up the nicks and bruises, and get better with our playbook and execution. I am still positive about how this team can finish, but I have tempered my expectation to 8-4 being a really good season in year 2 of the Rossomando era.
  21. Ok, I was a little bit over the top with my previous post about SWT. Lot's of good people learn and get a degree there. Even my brother and sister in law have advanced degrees from there. That said, I still do not like them. But admit ably, I am jealous that they have executed vision and moved up the ladder. 30 plus years ago, they were DII. They didn't take the position that they couldn't do it, so why try. Like what we have been plagued by, with the exception of the Jimmy Simmons era.
  22. They can call themselves “God’s Gift to College Football University”, they will still be Southwest Texas State to me. They are still likely the party school of Texas where more casual sex happens than learning.
  23. Massey has been skeptical, and maybe for good reason, of LU through the first 5 weeks. I hope make good steps improving and at least go 8-4. That would be measurable success in the program. But it will not get us in the playoffs. I guess i have put to much stock in LU keeping to a 7 point game in the first game of the year against Southwest Texas State. Sammy beat them by 1 point on a last second FG on Saturday. Sammy scored the last 20 points of the game and help SWT scoreless from 12 minutes on in the 3rd Quarter. Don't know what that says about either team, but Sammy is 4-1 in the Sun Belt and has even showed up in the bowl projections to go to a early December light weight bowl game. It just floors me that they can take this kind of progression, and here we are stuck back in the past.
  24. Can’t say that I am not disappointed, but I haven’t given up on the Cards this year. Hoping for 9-3 and a playoff birth.
