I watched the replay of Fee’s introductory presser. I was impressed! I have hope!

Does anyone have any intelligence on possible assistants that Fee has or may hire?

I guess I am being paranoid. Let’s face it, we have very shallow pockets. Fee can’t be flying under the radar of every D1 program in the nation that needs a coach. Praying he gets on campus as soon as practicable and gets started.

I haven’t had this much optimism about an LU men’s BB coaching hire in quite some time. Would hate to see it go awry before it starts.

I am all about kids and parental involvement. Coaches kids probably always get the short end of their parents attention. Having said all that, do you guys think that while he is not in Beaumont and on the job, this opens up the possibility of him being courted by another school with deeper pockets. Just a nasty thought I had this morning.

I am shocked that McNeese’s budget is more than a million higher than LU. Hopefully LU’s increases and gets a lot closer to SFA and the cowpokes. A turnaround by Fee would do the trick

In the NIL era, the players are hired guns, looking for the best payday. I would submit that almost exclusively, kids could care less about the school and it's history and traditions, and whether they really want to go to school their or get an education their and if the school could educate them for a future beyond sports. In fact, if we could really look into what is going on, it is likely the kids no longer do the class work, or even attend class and get credits. Again, this is professionals looking for a payday. At LU, it is not quite this extreme like it is a most assuredly is at the two largest state schools in Texas, but is is moving closer to that all the time. For me, it is taking the fun out of college athletics. I have not really watched pro sports in quite some time, with the exception of the Super Bowl, or the baseball playoffs if the Astros are in it. Or if I get invited to an Astros game and I am not paying. There is no "for the love of the game" left in sports for the most part. Pretty jaded outlook, but that is how I am seeing it after close to 60 years of being a sports fan.

I am so far removed from basketball these days, but still an Lamar supporter. Would love to see them resurrect the men's BB program, but we have made so many bad decisions in the last 30+ years regarding BB that I don't hold much hope. That said, even though we have tried this several times and it has not worked, I vote for an up and coming assistant who, if successful in resurrecting the program in 4-5 years will leave, but will leave it in much better condition than he found it. And hopefully they will make another good hire and keep it going for a little while.

Let’s face it, if they do make the tournament, they are almost assured of a one a done outcome.

I generally don't way in other sports except football. I must be a bit bored. That said, I saw where UT hammered UTRGV 14-0 in a run rule game. At least we put up 4 runs and led for a few innings. I wouldn't put to much stock this early in the season and against top tier competition. Hopefully they do get progressively better as the season moves along.

I agree with you coach. We already have players on the roster who do not even take a single credit. Some in their 6 or 7the year.

It is like the "dweeb" in high school who gets invited to hang out with the "cool kids". He thinks he is now somebody but they still see him as a dweeb!

We are going to continue to see movement as schools jockey for position. I do not see either the PAC12 (with SWT.....haha Tx State) or the Mountain West ever really making noise and having success in the CFP, even if expanded to 16 teams. But, I have been wrong before, many times.

I saw where Texas run ruled LU last night. Surprised that I beat someone to posting this I am hearing that Texas is going to be really good, so I am not reading much into this for LU and their season, at least not at this point.

I heard that yesterday as well, and wondering if that will put pressure on Montana/Montana State to also make a FBS move.

Does anyone know, and have a copy if they did, of a list that LU put together of who left in the portal and who came in?
