puddin tane Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) He ain't much of of return guy, but I don't think Devon Hester would do much...special teams suck Edited November 9, 2014 by puddin tane Quote
puddin tane Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Turnovers didn't help, but defense and special teams lost this game....getting torched by that left handed, noodle armed, duck throwing UCA qb. Quote
LU Strong Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Wow...KABrothers this is kickoff return.... you bringing up stats about a single player. If Brown or KJ had better blockers, avg.yds on kickoff would be better I'm sure. Brown avg was 19.8 yds on kickoffs going into this game, up 1 yd from KJ. If stats counted for LU, your D1 transfers players would get more ball touches in BIG games, there stats earned it. Check those stats. WE win together we lose together. Check yourself B4 you single out players, we don't play the game, we support our team ALL as ONE. KABrothers you are good people's, I'm pretty sure....losing hurts all of us at LU. Quote

Mendelj and LU Strong, I understand taking up for one's favorite or family member. I don't think he meant to single anyone out in anything he said. Saying that those plays hurt us in the end is not singling someone out. He's simply stating a fact. The INT thrown by Berry in the end zone was maddening. He did such a great job eluding the would-be tackler to see that play end the way it did. That doesn't change the fact that Caleb is the best quarterback Lamar has ever had. He made one play that didn't work out for the team. With regards to kickoff returns, I think that every kick that even has a chance of being in the end zone should be a touchback. If we get a quarter of the field, why chance something negative happening? These things are supposed to be discussed by the fans. Again, no one is singling anyone out, but these things did happen; they're on film. We don't have to avoid talking about them. Quote
geezer Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Is there anyway that BRSN can improve the audio for the questions. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out what the person that is interviewed is referring to. Quote
KABrother88 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) Thanks TBones...that's what I'm trying to getting at...we all know our return team isn't good...take the free 25 when they give it to you cause more bad is gonna come than good by bringing it out...and not sure where this 19.8 yards per return from Brown came from...going into that game he was averaging 17 yards per return...down 1.8 from KJ...and nobody has said KJ did wonders this year...for reference sake Brown's current 16.1 YPR average would put him 117th among FCS qualifying returners last season. Again not blaming Brown for that loss (not really sure how someone could take my initial comment that way) or singling Brown out (I acknowlege the entire special teams group is less than desirable) but Brown isn't a great returner IMO. If he shows he can be a good one with adequate blocking I'll gladly eat crow for days...I just don't see decisiveness when returns one, therefore just PART (not all) of the problem. Edit: after further digging Brown ranks 109th in FCS in KO returning in 2014 Edited November 11, 2014 by KABrother88 Quote
cardinal Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 KABrothers88 It's really not cool to single players out. This team wins together and this team loses together. I've never been more proud of a team than the Lamar Cardinals when they walked off that field last night. Seriously? This isn't pop warner. Players get singled out ALL the time in college (and professional) football! Quote
eagle eye Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 We lost a heartbreaker last Saturday but we are still 6-4 with 2 games left. At very worst we will end up 7-5 with a chance for 8-4. I have seen on this site so many posts wanting to see improvement in the team reflected more wins. We will have winning record for the first time since way before Lamar football showed back up afrer a long hibernation. Things aren't perfect and we all can see areas that we need improvement but we have a winning record and that's something worth acknowledging. The seniors who have persevered over the course of their time here will be leaving with the program in better shape than they found it. I agree with KABro in that we should be proud of the effort given last Saturday. As for calling people out, I agree with cardinal. I've seen guys called out all the time in all sports. That's kind of being a fan. Nothing personal or mean but if a player or players aren't doing well it gets noticed and it gets talked about in forums like this. Quote

Berry, in my opinion, should be first team all-conference....still he threw a critical int Harrington is a helluva player..he coughed up the ball in ot but that aside...THOSE plays didn't cost us the game..the fricking defense and special teams did..our secondary turns any opposing qb into an all American...and special teams..bleck Quote
