KABrother88 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Looking at what at the schedules that have been posted I think our 2016 schedule may be exactly the same as 2015 with the exception of non-conference opponents and flipping home and away in conference. We know that SFA is the one SLC team we will not play this season. One thing I did notice that may change this is that Houston Baptist's schedule posted on their website only has 8 SLC games and 3 non-conference games instead of 9/2 (Notthwestern St.'s schedule has not been posted yet). 9/3 - Abilene Christian, Nicholls St. & Sam Houston all share this open date with Lamar, however, typically Lamar schedules a non-conference game to open the season. Lamar played Bacone College at home here in 2015. 9/17 - Nicholls St. and Sam Houston share this open date with Lamar. Lamar played at Sam Houston here in 2015 9/24 - Share an open date with Nicholls St with Lamar. Lamar had a bye week here in 2015. 10/8 - Both Abilene Christian and Northwestern St. currently share this open date with Lamar. Lamar played Abilene Christian at home here in 2015 10/15 - Both Abilene Christian and Northwestern St. currently share this open date with Lamar. Lamar played at Northwestern St. here in 2015. 11/5 - Abilene Christian, Nicholls St. & Northwestern St. all share this open date with Lamar. Lamar played Nicholls St. at home here in 2015. KABrother88 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Missed that Abilene Christian has their schedule posted and Lamar will travel there on 10/8. That leaves 9/3 & 9/17 - either non-conference, Nicholls St, Sam Houston or Bye 9/24 - either non-conference, Nicholls St. or Bye 10/15 - either non-conference, Northwestern St. or Bye 11/5 - either non-conference, Nicholls St, Northwestern St. or Bye Quote
coachacola Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 According to footballscoop.com Woodard is still looking for a home opponent for September 3rd. I wonder if he's still looking for a DC too? Quote

I wonder if he's still looking for a DC too? Been checking there frequently to see if there is a DC update and I saw that too...with that being the case that locks SHSU into the 9/17 spot since that is the only other common week left for us and them Quote

KABrother88 Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 Northwestern St. has released their 2016 schedule and they will visit Beaumont on October 15th. So far the schedule has fallen in the same order as 2015. Only weeks left at the moment are the final non-conference game, Nicholls & our bye week. From what I've been told, the athletic department is finalizing the final non-conference game and the schedule will be released then Quote
KABrother88 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) The 2016 schedule has been released...and a much refreshing sight it is. There will be no walk-over non-conference game this season...obviously we already knew of Houston week 2 but week 1's opponent will be FCS Coastal Carolina who finished ranked 16th last season after hanging in at #2 for 4 weeks. Very tough start to the 2016 season but hopefully it'll but a few more butts in the stands and be a good test to see what the 2016 Cards can do. 9/3/16 - vs Coastal Carolina 9/10/16 - @ Houston 9/17/16 - vs Sam Houston St. 9/24/16 - BYE 10/1/16 - vs Southeastern Louisiana 10/8/16 - @ Abilene Christian 10/15/16 - vs Northwestern St. 10/22/16 - @ Central Arkansas 10/29/16 - vs Houston Baptist 11/5/16 - @ Nicholls St. 11/12/16 - vs Incarnate Word 11/19/16 - @ McNeese St. http://lamarcardinals.com/news/2016/2/17/FB_0217164135.aspx Also of note, this will be Coastal Carolina's last season at the FCS level. Starting in 2017 they will be in the Sun Belt Conference. Edited February 17, 2016 by KABrother88 Quote
geezer Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Even if LU were to loose both non-conference games this is the best schedule since football returned. The bad side of the schedule is if the Coastal Carolina game is a home and away set then next year LU has to find another FCS team to come to Beaumont in order to get five home games for the year as next year will only have four conference home games. I have been told it is a 1 year deal. Lamar is also scheduled to play North Texas as one of their non-conference games in 2017. So they will be looking for home game for those other non conference game. Quote
