KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Lamar gets a stop and calls their 2nd TO with 3:48 left...Central Arkansas to punt on 4th & 10 Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Do not understand the draw plays when you are down by 10 with 1-2 minutes left Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 And a turnover on down will do it...Lamar will lose 22-12 Quote
geezer Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 UCA wins 22 - 12. but this was definitely Lamar's best defensive performance of the year. Overall I thought the offense played alright especially considering Harrington not available at all and Earp getting hurt in the 1st quarter. UCA is one of the best defenses in FCS football. Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Really was pleased with the defensive performance...on both of the UCA TDs drives they started with good field position do to Lamar miscues...one on the long punt return that set UCA up inside the redzone, then the free kick after the safety set them up at near mid field. KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Woodard just said he expects Earps shoulder injury to end his season. So in 2 games we've lost senior starters at QB and RB... Quote
geezer Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Since I don't want to be optimistic the two big injuries are going to make winning the remaining games and having a shot at the post season very difficult with road trips to Nicholls and McNeese. I don't recall if this is the last year of Woodard's contract or does he have one year left. If he has a year left I think these two key injuries might give him that final year. Other wise I think he has to win at least three of the last four. Quote
KABrother88 Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 Woodard is in year 2 of the 3 year deal he signed following the end of the 2014 season Quote

Forgot that we lost Alex Ball for the season against ACU too...that's 3 critical players all seniors in 3 games Quote
Dracula Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I better not post what I was going too before I had a chance to cool down. Later. Quote
Dracula Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I'm watching the replay on ESPN3. It's a shame for Earp that he is done for the year. Allen throws a better ball but I still don't understand why Lamar doesn't drag someone short across the middle, on every passing play. They'll throw down the sidelines and deep across the middle but middle short seems to be wide open. I watched one play where Allen threw down the right sideline and the left slot or wideout just dogged it across the middle and then jogged back to the line. Lamar needs a better OC and maybe a better HC. Quote
puddin tane Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Puddin ought to be happy, LU has been throwing the ball deep on first down, just not completing anything and then 2nd and third down goes backwards. Maybe if they would try something in between the bomb and the screen LU could move the ball a little. im more of a pass it every down, but mix it up. 10-15 yarders are fine. like texas techs offense. i think they had a rec open every play last night. im not sure we have more than one intended target on our plays. puddin tane Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 well the D showed up big time. heck of a game by the D. offense? bleh :flush: the safety? who the hell thought that would work? the play before , deep pass, i was really hoping that would get picked off..the ole "good as a punt" sorta thing. couple big passes that coulda, woulda, shoulda been caught..... Guest austinred Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I watched the game on ESPN3. When Earp got injured, he was on the ground after sliding feet first when the fat defensive lineman basically did a belly flop on top of him. It doesn't seem to fit the definition of the targeting rule but he should have been flagged for a late hit. It looked like a cheap shot to me. Quote

Actually he dove head first if I recall correctly and that how his shoulder was on the ground at the point of contact...then he had all of his weight plus the DL weight crushing his shoulder into the turf. My first reaction even before I knew Earp was hurt was he should have slid but he was fighting to get a couple extra yards which are huge against a thought run D like UCA. Although sliding with a DL in pursuit at that angle can be troublesome as well...ask Tony Romo about that. I do agree that it was probably an unnecessary hit but that it hardly ever called. To me the DL hadn't yet committed to making a tackle until Earp was already lowering his body to the ground. However, i don't believe he had actually hit the ground yet meaning it was a perfectly legal play because diving is not giving yourself up in the same manner a slide is. Quote
Skinny1 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Even though we lost & Earp got hurt, I was happy that we maybe starting to build a defense. Something Lamar has struggled with since the resurrection of football. Like all football experts say, championships are won on defense. Quote
Guest austinred Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I watched the replay (how great is ESPN3!) and Earp did fall forward but the ball was dead when he hit the ground. The defender fell on top of him and slammed into his shoulder with either his forearm or elbow. Quote

spoonbill Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 It was a cheap shot but not unexpected. Unfortunately Earp gave him the opportunity to inflict damage, and the dude took full advantage. Perfectly legal shot though. The QB can't put himself in that position but he was trying to make a play and I respect that. You gotta figure the kid's gonna take advantage of the opportunity and squish him. I really feel sorry for Earp. He was really starting to play pretty good. Quote
