geezer
Lamar gets the opening kickoff and moves the ball well but then throws an interception off of the receivers hands at the HBU five yard line that was returned all the way for an HBU touchdown. So instead of LU taking the lead they are down by a touchdown to start another game.
geezer
After the pick six LU moves the ball well again but wind up with a 4th and three near the HBU 35 and fail to convert. It wasn't a very good play as the Cardinals runner ran into three HBU defenders.
geezer
Defense gets a stop and forces HBU to punt, but then muffs the punt setting up HBU for another touchdown. Lamar does block the extra point and returns it for a score making the score 13-2 with 6:23 left in the first quarter.
geezer
Wanza is back today after being out for a couple of weeks for an injury. Lamar is way ahead in the stats category but the turnovers have really hurt so far.
geezer
10:51 left in the first half and King fumbles at the HBU 16 yard line to give HBU the ball back when it looked like LU was going to have a chance for a score. Three turnovers so far in the first half.
geezer
Wanza scores on a three yard run as Lamar completes a 99 yard drive with 40 seconds left in the first half to pull back to a one score game 13-9.

coachacola
Posting updates om LU football games, it's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it! Geezer, I salute you. It"s pretty bad when LU can barely score against HBU.
geezer
12:28 left in the game and Lamar blocks a HBU punt and scores a touchdown to tie the game at 16. Cards defense has played well to this point and Lamar will really need a stop following the kickoff to keep the momentum going.
geezer
6:11 left in the game and Lamar scores on a 34 yard pass from McKenzie to Howard to take a 23 - 16 lead following the extra point.
geezer
Lamar takes over on downs with 2:31 left to play. A first down will guarantee a win.
geezer
Cards fail to get a first down and will have to punt with 10 seconds left in the game.
geezer
Cards win 23 -16 to get their second win of the year. Granted it was against the will be the worst team in the conference. The defense played a really solid game, the offense moved the ball probably the best they have all year. If the Cards can play a competitive game next week then they can go into the off-season with a positive attitude and some good things to build on. LU17
I went to the game. There was a play where the substitution rule did not come into play as we did not sub. There were 4 or 5 players coming onto the field and the same number coming off for HBU. We could have snapped the ball and caught them in a penalty, but we waited, looked over to the sidelines for a play and waited for the defense to get set to signal in a play. The play didn’t work and we subsequently punted. This was in the first half. I didn’t understand how we gave up so quick other than poor coaching. Then I caught our defense looking at our sidelines when HBU would look at their sidelines for a play. We were caught not ready when the ball was snapped. This is frustrating. We dominated this game and sqeeked by with the victory. I thought our play calling sucked big time. Our players won this game in spite of the coaching. We made a ton of mistakes, but were obviously a better team.
spoonbill
With 5:08 left in the third quarter HBU kicks a 57 yard field goal to extend the lead to seven points at 16-9. Good gosh what a kick. Figured it would be a fake or try and get an off sides. Impressive!
spoonbill
6:11 left in the game and Lamar scores on a 34 yard pass from McKenzie to Howard to take a 23 - 16 lead following the extra point. First vertical pass that wasn't over thrown by 10-15 yards to a wide open receiver.

The offensive play calling was questionable by far as usual. If I recall correctly there wasn't ONE measurement by the officials all game, a holding call on a big play where the HBU player got pancaked and laid on, and several overthrown balls to wide open receivers. Thank goodness Wanza was back on the field. We need a QB that can make those game changing, basically high school throws. We shoulda won by 3-4 touchdowns. Why you would decline a penalty with 3 seconds to let the opposing team try a last second play with no time outs is beyond me. Run around and fall on the ball. It's 3 seconds!! Lamar won despite the head and offensive coaches. Hats off to the kids!!
eagle eye
I’m sorry but what happened to enjoying getting a win? It was a conference win and it keeps Lamar from being at the very bottom of the SLC. In this day and age do we have to assign style points to a win? Eff that. We won, end of story. I don’t care if it by 1 point or 30 points — WE WON THE GAME!!! That is what matters. We likely won’t win next week in the season finale so for one cotton-picking week let’s enjoy some success! If we outplayed HBU but only won by 7, who gives a #+*=? Way to go Coach Schulz. You and your Cards did a nice job and you deserve credit for playing hard and winning the game. We all know you’ve got some building to do but for this week, you guys are winners. GO CARDS!

We all know you’ve got some building to do but for this week, you guys are winners. GO CARDS! I'm EXTREMELY happy for the win just FYI. The kids needed this win in a bad way. The defense is really coming around. The play calling was better on offense. Started some vertical stuff finally. Clock management was questionable at best. Receivers got open a lot. The team that's on the field is extremely young. If we can beef up the lines this off season, we may be fine. It's very frustrating watching and seeing the woulda/couldas every game bud. I assume you travel and watch all of the games also. We complete a few passes to wide open receivers, and it would've been ugly for HBU. I'll take the win. It feels like a while since feeling good after a game. IMHO if we complete some of those passes and don't get worked by the refs next week, we have a shot. Being the bottom feeders has always given the refs an easier chance at working a team. I'll be there yelling just like every other game. GO CARDS!!! #PeckEm
papabear
Good gosh what a kick. Figured it would be a fake or try and get an off sides. Impressive! That kick probably had another 4 or 5 yards in it. Wind was at his back, but it wasn't that strong. Impressive leg.

The reason LU has 1 Conference win is because of what he stated. Haven't you watched this Season?? Personally, I believe if LU is celebrating beating HBU we are in real trouble. Hoping for a good game against McNeese to end the Season and have something to build on for next Season. This Season has been one we don't want to see ever again
