2018 Football predictions

I’m predicting 2-9 but hoping for 1-10. I think Schulz is the worst head coach we’ve ever hired.

You can never foresee what the next year or two of a program will look like based on the first year of a new coach. Just look back to Lamar basketball and the years under Knight. That said I would expect 4-7 this year as a minimum. To do much better than that will mean that at least one of the transfers is a game changer as I wouldn't expect a lot of the incoming freshman.

Wow, where does all this vitriol come from? All we've heard is how Coach Schulz is getting the team stronger. All I've heard is praise for his strength and conditioning program. I am going to predict 6-5 and if all goes well 7-4.

Schultz lost me somewhere between the loss to a terrible NWSt and the loss to UIW

I would like to hope for dramatic improvement but as Puddin's post about the UCA coach I just want to see improvement year over year. A lot of people said Lamar looked better in the spring game, but I never put to much stock in that as the players were the same players from last year so are they really improved or they just looked good against last years team.? I'll be happy if Lamar just wins the games against the schools we should never loose to.

The question is, what shape was the UCA program in when he took over vs what did Schultz, who has never been a head coach but a long time assistant, inherit from Woodard? i expect the new coach at UIW to have big troubles.....i would someday like to compare us to UCA and not UIW....dare to dream.

Then why didn't we hire someone who "has been a head coach for a long time and has had tremendous success wherever he has been"? I know what you are saying but the cupboard wasn't exactly bare for Schulz. I've seen all I needed to see last year. We made NO improvement throughout the year. He wants a "dual threat" qb which means we will get someone who likely can't throw. A true dual threat who can throw is not signing with us. That type of player goes to the big boys...unless he can sign someone who is about 5' 10" (too "little" for the big boys).

I really don't agree with most of the negative posts but this one actually has some factual info. He is dead set on a dual threat QB it seems and YES, you cannot get a quality dual threat QB at this level. He will either be a good runner/poor passer or the opposite. The truly good running and passing QBs are at the Alabamas, Floridas, Ohio States of the world. I'd rather go with a QB that can chuck it. At least he won't get multiple QBs killed every year. Hmmmmm.....it seems like there's a true chucker on the team already but he can't sniff the field until injuries rear their head. Try something different. What's the saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results???

As I’ve said over and over and others have said in this thread, you aren’t gong to find one straight out of HS who will come in and make an impact as a underclassman. If you’re looking HS then it is going to have to be someone in one of a few categories. He’s either going to be:

Schulz is a program killer. The sooner he’s gone the better. I’m sorry, I really don’t enjoy being negative but I believe I watched every game but one last year. I’ve seen who he’s recruiting. The crappy product he put on the field was abysmal. We easily had .500 talent and he mustered up ONE meaningless win. When you make a mistake it’s best to own up to it, lick your wounds, and move on. He is a mistake. (I hope I’m wrong and will gladly eat crow at the end of next season)

That's a good question. But, geez people, the guy and the new staff have had two recruiting classes. This upcoming season should go a long way to answering our questions. I would say relax but I hate Aaron Rodgers and the horse that he rode in on.

i havent received anything in the mail....i did have a missed call from ticket people a week or so ago
